Oh God, not another one.
Go buy a Valentine V1 or a Passport 8500 and you'll be in the same boat as 49% of the people on the Forum, regardless of which one you pick.
Leave the poor guy alone. He has a question so let's just answer it.
I personally like my valentine 1. Purchased it directly from the valentine website for $405 shipped to my door. The reason I prefer it over the passport is becasue of the directional arrows that show you where the radar is coming from. I think this is a very useful feature. I dont know too much about the k-40, but it requires an intensive installation and is over $1000 if you purchase the system that gets hardwired into your car. good luck
The Passport 8500 is a good buy, but the absolute worst thing you can do... is to get overconfident just because you have a radar detector and stop being situationally aware.

There have been many many threads here in C5 General about this subject, the top two are the Valentine1 and the Passport 8500. Usually when this question comes up - we all wind up arguing which is best. They both offer excellent protection and each has it's own advantages.
The point about situational awareness is very valid - the best radar detector doesn't make you invisible or immune to radar. It's strictly a tool that might give you a couple of extra seconds to slow down, but might not, too.
Personally I have a Valentine 1 and I like the arrows.
Here are both company's web sites. Read up and pick one....

Cool, what would a week be without another radar detector thread I suspect you'll find the verdict split between the Passport 8500 and the Valentine 1. I have the Valentine 1 and love mine but you won't go wrong with either.

Fight the ticket..I'm fighting mine...I have friends who are cops and have dated cops and they tell me to meet the cop before the trial and ask him to give me a 5 mph over the limit with no points..What do you have to lose!! Good luck...My hearing is Tuesday morning..
