Greetings lynxshooter and welcome to the forum. Congrat's on the new car. This place is very addictive, so you've been warned but the good news is if you need to find out something about your car you'll get your answer here (and then some.) I've used a touchless in the past a time or two, but like others have said you will get more satisfaction from a good hand washing.
I,ve spent hours on this site every night, since finding it, it's great. Bought my first vette last week and haven't got a good nights sleep since then. 01' navy blue coupe, 18k, pics soon. Because of the weather being so cold, is a touchless carwash an option? Thanks to all.
Welcome to the Forum. Glad you like it here.
Try using hot water to wash your car. If the wind isn't blowing, it ain't bad at all. You actually get warmed up sticking your hands in the water.
I am with you on the touchless car wash thing...I'm too lazy to do it myself every time. Handwash, clay, wax every few months at best. Mine is a daily driver and will never look like a show car.

No car wash for me, other than what I can do myself. My car is not a DD, so frankly it rarely gets that dirty that I have to wash more than every couple of weeks.
No one has answered you question about the "undercarriage". The car is nearly flat under there. Maybe you should stick a real low profile lawn sprinkler on the end of your hose and move it around to rinse off the bottom of the car - unless you have access to a lift!
I think the biggest issue with the car washes is more than the damage that they do to the finish - it's also the fact that the car is so low and the wheels and tires so wide - the racks weren't designed to accomodate a Vette.
Your car is a dark color - it's almost as bad as black in that it will show every imperfection on the paint.....swirl marks, fine scratches, etc.
Be very careful with what you use to touch the paint, if you're concerned about having the car look it's best. Maybe a trip over to the Car Care Products is in order for you. There are a lot of "experts" over there that can help you with your detailing questions!

lynxshooter,
Welcome to the forum, it is a wonderful place and highly addictive.
If you are not one to wash your own car and want to take it to a touchless car wash, go ahead, just be careful and don't let it out of your sight. Plenty of guys do it, I personally don't but I do take my pickup to one. That thing is too damn big to be washing myself and they do an excellent job.
Enjoy the forum and take the humor with a grain of salt. These guys mean well, even though sometimes you might wonder.
