QCCC Road Trip
We drove north to visit the Richard Childress Racing Museum near Lexington, NC.
The museum was interesting and they had a bunch of Dale Ernhart's #3 cars that he had driven during his career. The photo below shows one of the RCR engines.
I was last actively involved with NASCAR Racing in the late 60's and I did not know how much technology, modern engineering, and the rules have changed. The last NASCAR car I drove was a 65 Chevy and it was a "Real Car." The photo below shows the modern frame of a NASCAR car.
Another thing I saw was how the extra high tractor trailers are designed to support a racing team. The cars on the top and tool rooms, parts storage, and even an office conference room for visiting sponsors and reporters.
After we finished the museum tour we stopped on the way back to Charlotte at the Childress Vinyards for some serious wine tasting and lunch.
A Great Day! A Great Corvette Club!
A good time was had by all...
