Default C6 Shifter Installed

Changed out my semi-stock C5 shifter with a new C6 one (thanks Bob for the great price and fast service) today. Patches was a help in some details. As he stated it is a fast and easy mod with one extra step if you have a vert as you need to remove the waterfall before you begin.

One of the things I really like about the C6 (not the styling) is the way the shifter just fall into your hand and this mod duplicates that feeling. I have modded my car alot but never found an after market shifter I liked (hurst came real close) so I am super glad the new C6 shifter just bolts in. I replaced the whole deal as it comes from Fitchners. No problems in the install as it is very straight forward.

As others have stated, due to the angled shaft, the 1,3,5 and reverse are a closer reach. Very smooth and with an one inch shorter shaft, it seems a shorter throw. Pretty nice mod for about 235 dollars delevered to your door with the new C6 ****.

This may be my last mod as a C6 Z06 with a cut off top is in my future. My C5 has more HP than a new C6 but the new Z06 super Vette will be another story. I just hope GM loses the push button doors by than.

Thanks to all those that blazed this path before me making my C5 vert just a tad nicer.

Did you use the standard C5 shift boot, and did it fit OK?

Sounds like a good mod. I would like to know too if the stock C5 shift boot fits.

Congrats! Me too!

The boot fits fine...narrow at the top, but flip it inside out and "push" the C5 **** threw, then pull right side up and install the mounting screw and you'll be fine...

Nice mod

Peace

Will is correct.........The stock boot not only fits but looks good too. Even though I have a Red Carrvegio boot, it was made to stock size. Pictures tomorrow as it was too dark in the garage for good detail shots. Black **** on a red boot looks and feels great.

It also makes it easier to get at the buttons for the climate control. If you like the ease of the stock shifter over the aftermarket short throw shifters, you will really appriciate this upgrade. It really makes changing gears a lot nicer. I didn't change the shifter linkage part, just the shifter shaft and the ***. If you wait long enough, the C6 owners who want to go to a Hurst, or any of the other short throw shifters might want to sell the stock shifter and *** like the C5 people are doing. I didn't realize at the time that the bottom half is the same, and the new shaft fits right in.

Am I glad to hear this as mine is currently on its way from Bob at Fitchner as well. I tried the Hurst and didn't like it. I was getting ready to cut down a C5 shifter when Bob made the announcement so I also took the plunge.

Go away snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to mod may car
