A forum member had told me to put in Techron additive when my fuel gage went haywire and it fixed it before I even got back from the gas station! However I have got to say there was an added bonus!
I thought my car was running perfect, but after that treatment I couldn't believe the difference in smoothness and power. I mean it was dramatic! I bought it used with 19000 mi. and It has never run like this.
I can't believe what I was missing!
I am a true believer in Chevron gasoline now, and HIGHLY recommend that treatment even if you think yours is perfect........
I love this forum!!!
My gas gage started acting up, so I posted on this forum, and was told about Techron and Chevron. I went and got a bottle and put it in and started to use Chevron Surpreme exclusivly. The gas gage problem went away. However, I too thought the car hasd been running better. Seems to pull harder when I get on it. Couldn't figure how Techron could do that. Now I read here that someone else also thinks their car runs better. maybe not just my imagination.
my gauge screwed up almost every time i drove the car...
last week i bought 2 bottles and when i was almost empty i added both bottles and filled her up...
gauge hasnt screwed up once...so far...

I had the senders replaced back in May 04 and the only gas I used since then has been Chevron. One week after they replaced the sending units the gas gauge dropped to empty

Been using 3.5oz at every fill-up and a full bottle at oil change time for the last 2-3 years. Last fall I had my intake manifold off for some mods and looked down into my intake ports. I was very impressed with how clean my intake valves were. Dark reddish brown coloration with no visible carbon deposits. I now have 101K miles on her.

Before I had put in the Techron, I had used BP exclusively, and as I said, the sender went haywire and apparently the car did not run as well as it does now with Chevron. This really surprised me as I had always believed the Amoco/BP gas to be the best.....
But I guess since I started this thread, I had better end it before someone gives me one of these ....But thanks for some interesting comments!
been using nothing but Techron Gas for years....my daughter uses the cheapest she can find, just had to lay out $450 for her to have fuel injectors clean and the EGR valve replaced.......

With Chevron and Texaco combined now are you getting Chevron gas or Texaco gas??? I've heard Chevron gas is better than Texaco gas. Just wondering......

When I purchased my 2000 vert form a TRUE Corvette lover, he warned me about he gas guage issue and the "Techron Fix". I didn't pay much attention. Then I ran out of gas - TWICE (I am a slow learner). So, I filled up with Chevron - or Texaco here in AZ which also uses Techron as an additive - purchased a half dozen large bottles of Techron and started watching the odometer between fill ups. After about three tankfuls and a couple of Techron boosts, the gas gaugae worked again
and has continued to work well for 8-9 months.
Now, that said, I have a very hard time believing in additives. If Techron - or the gas guage god - hadn't decide to make my gas guage work, I would be a doubting Thomas and still maintain some skepticism. Perhaps it is the prayer rather than the chemical. I fully recognize that hardware problems cannot be solved with a chemical, but my particular problem seemed to be. So, its a first step when you have the guage problem. If it works, its an easy process to manage and a minor compromise regarding fueling.
When on a trip. I fill up wherever I need to and just add a Techron bottle to fuel when I return home. So far, the occassional non-Chevron fill ups have created no new guage problems and I have ceased worrying. I do however, set the Trip1 odometer and watch range and plan on a fill at around 250 miles local and 300 on the road. So far my guage has been matching the mileage and I think my problems are behind me.
As far as performance - I can see no change, but I have installed several mods including Vortex intake system, oversized TB, LS6 manifold, headers, Cat Back and X pipe from Magnaflow. Now with those, I felt a big difference.
