Apparantly it was a pretty gruesome scene and he had to go to counseling for a while. The DA pressed charges. Not sure what happened after that.

Looking back, that cop who gave him four tickets was trying to save him from himself. Some people never learn.

Sorry for the off topic story.

Incidentally, I've had my C5 for 4.5 years. 5 pullovers, no tickets.

They're such push overs it's almost too easy, I never take the bait, just use them for it.

I have never owned one and have done just fine.

By the way I'm with Grumpy, 1 is my limit.
Ok, with instant-on you're pretty much a dead duck unless you pick it up ahead of time when he's hitting other cars. But not all cops use instant-on so the radar detector is still useful.

And in California it's not illegal to have a radar detector so it doesn't matter if he sees it or not...unless he gets upset that you have one and decides to use that as a reason for giving the ticket rather than a warning.

Mine is under the tinted part of the windshield and is hard to see from the outside so it may not be noticed anyway.

And lastly, I have been saved many times by my V1. I try not to drive recklessly but I do tend to speed, especially on the freeway.

4 times in a matter of 8 hours when I am down the shore! No front plates, so everytime they switched shifts or a new guy that didn't see me saw my nice car, boom pulled over.. luckily got a warning everytime as both uncles are ranking officers and their family member cards seemed to of helped, along with a few friends FOP cards

I have everyone beat.

I have the 2 speeding tickets in 1 stop club membership!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, sure did, got pulled over by a cop in arlington, tx. He started writing a ticket, and said I was doing 60 in a 45 in the 1300 block, handed it to me, and then started writing another one, 55 in a 45, in the 2600 block. I couldn't believe it. I took both, and then asked why he didnt follow me a few more blocks and racked up a few more tickets, he just looked at me and walked off.

That was upsetting, 512 dollars in speeding tickets.

I have not been pulled over much in my vette but my daily driver is a 96 impala ss and it is loud and lowered with 22" wheels I have owned it since mid october 04 I got pulled over twice on the way back from florida where I purchased it, and have gotten pulled over in it 9 times since and recieved only one ticket you can't tell me that they don't profile cars. P.S. two of the officers told me they wanted to check out the car.

we could have laughed about it if he had a sense of humor.

"I would really appreciate a warning."

"Wait here and you will find out." Nice.
that mindset shouldn't be wearing a badge, or carrying a gun.

I feel sorry for that officers wife and children.

Nope, not me! I just get one great big one! Long story, never saw him. almost in the middle of nowhere, and letting the Dragon breath! well over the 100 MPH, well Ah, er, over the 150 range. Did not take me to jail, wrote me in excess of 100. Judge was nice and went easy on me cause I didn't have any prior tickets. Whew, insurance went up cause it was a felony traffic stop. All in all cost me about $4000+ in fines and insurance.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

I have been very good ever since!

I hope I'm not tempting the speeding gods.

It must have been a slow day in New Mexico. Sorry about anyone who gets a ticket they really didn't deserve. I have a perception, which I will never give up so don't even try, that many "pull-overs" for minor infractions (speed not over 5 mph); brake light out; etc. are to give LEOs a chance to check for DUI; wants/warrents; etc. or (and I know this is a stretch) just to improve the revenue flow to their jurisdiction.

Look on the bright side ... you could have waited 20 mins. in line at a DUI saturation check point, had your car searched, and been treated rudely besides when they couldn't find anything wrong. Not that that every happens!

Chaser........they don't see real well around corners or thru a hill

What they are VERY good for is alerting you of radar ahead IF there are cars in front of you on the open road

My V1 has saved me lots....because sometimes I actually drive a little faster than the speed limit........not dangerously......but somewhat faster

I hear ya'... but the ends don't justify the means. They can run your license plates without pulling you over.

I knew they aren't illegal here in Cali, but my point was if you get pulled over and the LEO see's one on your dash the chances of getting off on just a warning probably go down significantly.

Sounds like the V1 with the concealed display is the one to have. I might have to look into this.

i had my mustang since i was sixteen and i probably have over 20 warning tickets in the glovebox only one speeding ticket becuase of a d*!k cop trying to stop dwi people......

Funny story, had my buddies in the 5.0 and was leaving blockbuster...Put it in first.....bam spun the tires for a good 50 ft.....Whats that? three cops eating donuts right in front of me?....Damn i only have inspection tags, im thinking im screwed....Then one cop comes to my door, tells me not to be doing things of that nature in a public place and explains to me about his drag racing career! i was lucky and my freinds all were a jealous and sayin that never happens to them. I wonder why the good cops let the muscle car guys go? i know all cops hate crotch rockets and most the ricers, geuss they are good ole people like us......P.S i havent gotten pulled over in the vette yet.....Knock on wood
