Got pulled over twice today

Number One: This morning outside of Fort Sumner, New Mexico, in the Vette, on my way back from vacation in Santa Fe, I violate two of my own Professional Speeder Rules:
1. If you are all alone and the road is hilly or curvy, you are a sitting duck. And just plain stupid.
2. If the speed limit seems too low, watch out.
Yup 65 limit in the middle of freaking NOWHERE, I am doing 80 all by myself. Around a bend, there he is instant on about 1/4 mile up, Escort screams. I am dead and I DESERVE IT. I pull over, hide the Escort, do everything right, am real nice. Too bad the New Mexico State fresh-out-of-the academy cop was a P---K. Hey, we could have laughed about it if he had a sense of humor.
"I would really appreciate a warning."
"Wait here and you will find out." Nice.
Plus New Mexico won't let you take Driver's Ed for an exemption. Just flat don't have it says the officer. Plus he stands on the passenger's side, will not bend down to talk to me so I have to practically lay across the passenger's seat to hear/see him. He also wrote on the ticket he saw my radar detector on the dash. IMPOSSIBLE.
Anyway I move on.Number Two: Darkness, outside of Mineral Wells, Texas on 180 some 6 hours later. I am in light traffic doing maybe 73 in a 70 and the Escort screams and the lights come on. WTF???
I cannot believe this. DPS officer turns around. Now this guy is like 99% of LEOS I have encountered: a regular human being just doing his job. Asks for my licence, I ask him if he would like to see my insurance (ooohhh that would have been nice, the other ticket tumbling out of the glove box). He says no he trusts me when I say my insurance is current, he shows me the new electronic ticket writer they are testing, gives me a warning ticket and thanks ME for MY courtesy.
I suspect he was really looking for DUIs coming back from Possum Kingdom Lake on this gorgeous day.Anyone else in the "Two a Day" Club?

Seriously, my parents live in New Mexico and I've driven for over an hour without seeing another car. I understand the logic of speed enforcement in areas where it will make a difference, but not out in the middle of nowhere. When we drove there 2 years ago, I don't remember ever seeing a police car.

I got three in 15 seconds one time when I was a kid. Burned rubber up the entrance ramp, cut across two lanes of traffic and was doing 85 in a 70 with the cop behind me the whole time. Improper start, improper lane change, speeding.
There's nothing like being young and stupid!

. I keep seeing all these stories about guys getting tickets even though they have a radar detector, WTF good is one if you're going to get popped anyway. Seems like you should have a little more warning than they seem to give.
And if you can't conceal it so the LEO's don't notice it aren't you just asking for trouble. I have never owned one and have done just fine.

By the way I'm with Grumpy, 1 is my limit.

Just after our senior year ended, he was driving with a buddy of his and a girl friend from out of state. He was messing around again and crashed the car. Killed the girl. Apparantly it was a pretty gruesome scene and he had to go to counseling for a while. The DA pressed charges. Not sure what happened after that.
Looking back, that cop who gave him four tickets was trying to save him from himself. Some people never learn.
Sorry for the off topic story.
Incidentally, I've had my C5 for 4.5 years. 5 pullovers, no tickets.
Bottom line.... someone has to walk point, my ego can take it.
