I only have had tickets in Texas. 18 years ago. If I get tagged for speeding, so be it. When I lived in Tx I would get speeding tickets and other ticket when I wasn't speeding. Thats what burns me about the Police there. I recieved speeding tickets when I was not speeding. My Father-inlaw ALWAYS thought it was me speeding also. He was riding with me one night in my blazer as we was heading over to the Palistine area to deer hunt. Its night and i was driving 55mph. the limit. I see up ahead a 1/2 mile and there is lights parked on the side of the road. I slow down to 50, get close then get hit with radar. Out he comes, pulls me over and writes me up for 69 mph. My Father-inlaw was so pissed he told the cop that the ticket was bull****. I never heard him cuss before. After that, I left Tx. No more tickets either.

Yep, sure did, got pulled over by a cop in arlington, tx. He started writing a ticket, and said I was doing 60 in a 45 in the 1300 block, handed it to me, and then started writing another one, 55 in a 45, in the 2600 block. I couldn't believe it. I took both, and then asked why he didnt follow me a few more blocks and racked up a few more tickets, he just looked at me and walked off.

That was upsetting, 512 dollars in speeding tickets.
They ran a story in the news a while ago about Arlington piling on multiple tickets for each stop, but I've never heard of two speeding tickets for one stop.

Arlington and North Texas in general is a joke when it comes to tickets. In Fort Worth, I volunteer as a commissioner in local government and on several occasions the police would come before us and whine about how they don't have manpower to adequately staff vice, etc.

Please.

Hey chief...why don't you transfer a few of those dozen or so officers that you have running a radar trap on I-20 to vice. Your staffing issue might go away!

Same thing happened to me last year in Vermont. Beautiful summer day on I 91, had the vette for about a month, top down, big grin. I was coming over the top of a big hill, in the slow lane, doing 73 in a 65 zone, being passed by a grey Volvo (really, officer!!!), and the trap was at the bottom of the grade. Who did they pull over???

I was nice, he gave me a warning, but for the next 100 miles, they were looking for me. Behind trees, on the other side of the hiway, behind signs, I saw more LEO's in that 100 miles than ever. I never went faster than 65, but they were really trying to nail me.

This is why detectors wont always protect you. Your foot cannot react faster than a laser or radar beam.

There are helpful suggestions that one can follow which minimize the risk.

1. Never speed around a corner.
2. Never speed on the up-slope of a hill
3. Never speed at night.
4. If you're going to speed, try to follow another speeder

These are just some and they help "reduce" the risk, not eliminate it

I had a momentary lapse a year ago and broke rule number 2. It resulted in my first ticket.

The only time I got a ticket was many years ago and I had a detector. Since losing the detector I have not even been pulled over. Knock, Knock.

None in Vette yet - two close calls though - BOTH on the very first time I drove the car!

When I was 18, (and stupid) had just put a fresh engine in my Mopar and did a "launch" right in front of the downtown bar. Cop was across the street, saw the whole thing and took chase.

Bottom line, he had me at 122 mph in a 20 mph zone which in KS doubles inside city limits (equates to 204 mph over the speedlimit), wreckless driving, and exhibition of speed. He could have impounded the car and taken me to jail...

Thank GOODNESS he was a major mopar fan and was duly impressed with the launch. After a serious bu** chewing, we spent 30 minutes talking about the car and then he wrote me a ticket for careless driving, which is not even a moving violation. Cost me $22.

YES always share the risk, that way u have cut your odds of getting a ticket in haft , and if u don't have a big ego u can let the mustang chach up to u agin and it is eazy to make him think he is winning agin till the next radar gun ,then he got two in one day, thank ford for mustangs.

I got 2 in one day in '91 Taxsonville FL on my Yamaha Seca 750.

First one, this woman in a black mustang wouldnt get off my tail,
I mean she was staying 2-3 feet off my rear wheel and I couldnt
out accellerate her, so I pulled off on a exit ramp to loose her in
the tight turn, she hung in there, cop was sitting just off the
ramp clocked me 73 in 35, the woman went to jail, all i kept
seeing was me getting hit from behind and being splattered all over
the expressway. Still dont know what her problem was...

Second one was just 2 hrs later 55 in a 50. Just couldnt
catch a break that day I guess.

Havent had another ticket in the last 5 years other than for
no front plate on my '01 Trans Am.

Default True Story

Got pulled over twice in twenty minutes and got off both times.

Driving through Missouri on my way to Florida after Charley hit to help a friend clean up. 2:30 in the morning in the middle of nowhere I get nailed by a twenty something year old town cop hiding in a gas station lot - 68 in a 45 the radar says.

After a appropriate amount of begging (no time to be proud) he lets me go with a warning.

Not twenty minutes later - now its about 3 a.m. - the road opens up, I'm in the country - no civilization anywhere and I get nailed again. 65 in a forty five. What are these guys doing out there? This time the guy looks like he's 18 and again just a local cop. Who is protecting, there is no one living out there. Again all politeness, begging and promising to slow down - but explain that I am on a mission - he gives in and lets me go.

As he is leaving, I ask if there is anywhere on the road where I can legally do 65? He says about five miles ahead the limit changes to 65.

What a sick ticket that would have been.

Need to get a detector!

I've only been pulled over twice since owning two vettes.... but I don't
drive the miles you do!! But I'll confess, that doesn't mean I haven't
deserved it!
