Default Strip on side?

Quick question, couldnt find anything in search. Ive been looking through the site and at the many pics of everyones cars (all awesome) and have seen a difference in some of the Z06's (maybe reg c5's as well) having to do with that little strip or line sticking up along the side of the door. Ive seen some with it, and some without. I was wondering how they differ if at all and when they started having this strip on the car. Thanks for any info.

If you're referring to the side piece that runs parallel to the ground it's called a Body Side Molding...BSM for short. It's simply an option that people can get or leave off. People love 'em or hate 'em...seems like there's no middle ground. I don't know if they've been available since day 1.

Thanks for the quick answers, I now smack myself for such an obvious answer. Now for another question with probably another obvious answer, are the Mouldings removable. I personally like it without, so im just wondering if in my search for a Z06, if I would need to look for one without or if i shouldnt worry about it.

Now that you know that the term for the strips is Body Side Molding, or BSMs, do a search (for either) and you'll have enough reading material for the whole weekend.

And yes, they're removeable. I just took mine off last summer.

Don't let having them affect whether you by a certain car or not as they are very easy to remove. I just finished doing my wifes car and it was really easy and quick to do.

A hair dryer and fishing line is all your need to remove it. Now putting them on straight...that's a whole different matter!

They are called body side moldings. They can easliy removed with a piece of fishing line and a hair dryer.
