C5 "Impression" ?
and still get the "Midlife Crisis" crap from some people.
I tell them I have owned Vettes for a long time and if they are "jealous" I can understand as I would be pissed too if I was driving a mini-van.

I got nothing but compliments from other family members and friends the day I drove up to church in my TR Coupe. One uncle had owned a new C3 back in the day when he finished med school and was very excited for me to have one now. Another uncle has a goal of getting one as soon as he can.
It's some of my students at school who "can't understand how a teacher can afford a Corvette." Rather than explaining to them how many new SUV's and sedans cost as much or more than a Vette, I just smile and let 'em wonder about it. Many of my students just admire it and ask if they can take it for a spin.
Enjoy your car and don't let anybody get you down. Just smile at 'em and wave as you bury your foot in the throttle.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
the most common responses i get is: it must be nice
i see whos got the money or did you win the lottery
never any negative comments at least none to my face anyways
but im from the south (we are nicer)and not to flame anyone here or in any specificregion of the country but it has been my expierience that people from other areas of the country or either rude or rather blunt when it comes to conversation or just mannerism in general
like i said im not saying this about anyone in paticular just based off my past exp.

Ha ha! Too funny! I have a F350 that has 10.5 inches of lift, now the Vette and get the ***** cracks all the time.
I got my Vette because I've always wanted one and wanted to have all American cars. Had a 911, it was fun, had an SL500 and I was probably too young for the car and now I have the Vette. With the Vette I feel part of it and there's nothing like that feeling. Let em talk all they want, they'll never understand.
.Besides, I've owned cars like these for as long as I can remember, so it never shocks anyone I know when I get a new one, or mod an existing one.
The fellas at work all know I drive these kinds of cars, whether it was during my military career or my current corporate job. Yah, the subject comes up periodically, but it's not like I am waving the car in anyone's face, so the fellas at work don't make issue with it.
I will say this, though. In my experiences, there are three kinds of people you meet when driving these things: Those who drool and stare, those who are indifferent, and those who give you the cold shoulder. Luckily, it seems to be the women who drool and stare, and the men who give the cold shoulder. I wouldn't prefer it any other way!

You ain't right man!!

I'll be 56 in a month and I am there................6 or 7 years ago it finally dawned on me that what other people think is about as important as a bottle of cold ****. Love that car!!! Waited a long time for it!!

I know exactly what you went through - I had that as well, but from aquaintances, not friends, thankfully.
I'm 43 and I get the semi-unkind/jealous/envious cracks from co-workers all the time. I've learned to ignore the post-NewN2Vettes losers and stay true to the guys/gals that were close to me pre-NewN2Vettes. They all love the car and are happy for me because I am happy with it.
At my work, I'm a bit of a celebrity, I guess, because I appear to live the "high life" (constant travel to exotic places, single, charismatic, nice home etc.
)And all my friends love the car. So I just ignore all of the "if I didn't have kids I would..." and "they are paying you too much..." and "I wonder what you do for a living..." types and just enjoy my life and drive my Vette!!
Eg Hope you don't mind the editorial license I took with you post but the similarities were too close to pass up! .

with just about everything in this thread. 42 here, my wife has been at home with the twins for 17 years now. I work at home in the industrial optics business that I started. I do ALL the manufacturing myself and the same goes for the work on our property. Two years ago I stripped and reshingled the house, so Im certainly not too high and mighty to do whatever needs to get done. 366 days ago I got back into cars after having to give up toys for all of the above mentioned things. What I don't understand is that many of the people that live out here in the boonies and most likely earn less have spent the same amounts of money on their F350s. I live in the same kind of modest house as them and spent the same amount of $$ as them, yet they look at that yellow vert like a million dollar car that just doesn't belong up in the hills. It doesn't matter to me, but it does confuse me.
