I have a Garmin 2610 (old model now) that I am very pleased with. It's portable (car to car) and seems very accurate. You might want to check them out.
I have been using a Magellan Color for quite a while. It has a small screen, but very handy and accurate. It will show arrival to my driveway within 6 feet. I have velcrod it to my motorcycle (water resistant capable), used it in an airplane to 525 mph, hiked to 5000 ft altitude in the Smokys (accurate to precisely noted geodesic survey on the chart), used in in another vehicle for a 3000 mile road trip. You can record waypoints and tracks and then download them to your computer for later on...AA batteries or aux plug...all for about 4 bills. Next aquisition for the Vette will probably be a Panasonic AVIC N2.
I have a Garmin 60c, which is a portable GPS. It has a color screen and has very precise mapping capabilities. It has the ability to look up addresses. I couldn't have spent the money any better.
