When I first got the Vette and found the forum and saw how popular the Z06 Ti exhaust was I wanted one to replace my stock exhaust. You had to be fast because if you blinked a set would be sold here. I called the local Chevy dealer just to see what a new set would be. I told the parts clerk what I was after and got a quote of $1400 per side (the clerk even said HS ) not the set mind you, per side. So I went the ebay route.
Most dealers charge a GM list price set forth by GM and the prices are crazy to say the least.Dealers on the internet sell at their cost and make a modest profit on shipping.Just a tip, many dealers have two parts counters. One counter sells at wholesale pricing to the public with the other counter selling at GM list to customers in for service
If you think the dealers parts prices are high, you should step onto a Snap-On tool truck
I needed the tapered rubber bushings for my coupe roof holder. About 3/8" in x 1". They don't sell the removable bushing... you have to purchase the entire hold down latch asembly for $87.00
How about tis one-total crap. Wanted to check the price for the guide pins on our front calipers. The GMpartsdirect price is $3.95 each, and the GM list price is $7.95. Called the dealership here in town, and the guy on the phone told me they listed for $12.95 each! What a huge lie! I couldn't believe the corvette tax on that one! $5.00 DEALER add-on.
When I bought my 2002, it had only one key and one remote. I was able to pick up an extra programable remote on E-bay for a decent price. Aha, I thought, now all I have to do is buy a key. I go to the locksmith shop and showed them my key and asked them to duplicate it. That is when the "Corvette Tax" reared its ugly head. It seems the little black spot on the key with a piece of metal protruding is a "Chip." This causes the key cost $30.00 instead of the usual 2 bucks.
