Don't be so harsh on GM. About 10 years ago a friend of mine had the starter go out on his Infinity. It was $950 for the starter. He found one in a junk yard for $450. Should not have been more than $180 for new.

I installed OEM fog lights on my Z06 and needed the metal clip with the nut attached to it so that I could screw the bracket to the frame. Went to the dealer to order two. I figured 2-3 bucks $4 at the most, no big deal. Guy says $4.50. I gave him $11. and all he said was "each" and they come in a pack of 10!!! $50 for two 25 cent clips. WTF!!!!

I went to NAPA and got a pack of 10 for $4.50!

Dealers!!

Why do you think we call them stealer? The guy behind the counter should be wearing a mask.

Between my two C5's and my Grand Prix, I've lost all the little rubber
bumpers from the gas tank doors.

I don't know why they keep coming off.

Whenever I'm in for service, I just say they keep falling off and they
replace them. Under warranty of course.

I sold the Pontiac.

Once they said they had none in stock. When I got home, I saw it
was replaced. I can only assume they pulled it of another car.

If you will all run out to your garages now, (I'll wait) and lift your door handles on your babies; you will see 2 tiny little rubber tips and I mean TINY!
I had one missing.
I asked the parts man if he would fire up his computer and see if he could find me one.. He does and starts laughing and says "Well I guess that's the "ultimate corvette tax", I cringe and he says.....$7.95 for ONE!!! NOT the TWO per door...just ONE!!!!
UHHH...16 dollars for two, and...$32 for both doors!!!!!!
Now I'm all for helping GM get over it's fiscal woes, but not by causing ME fiscal woes........SHEESH!!!!!

Just went to see them, smaller than a pencil eraser!!

Think I'll cut one of those up and glue 'em on if I ever need that replaced!

My last few visits to the Chevrolet parts counter have been quite humorous. I think the parts guys are becoming quite embarrassed by the dealer mark-ups. The last time the counter guy told me where I could get the small item a lot cheaper (some o-rings).

As for actually paying for new car brochures - that's just insulting!

So if anyone needs vette parts from the dealer, let me know and I can get them at cost. I priced the scopes for a Z06 rear brakes, and they retailed for $98, my cost was $61. Again if its something small let me know, I can get it and all that I would charge is shipping [/QUOTE]

I'm in the market for one little rubber door handle bumper!

You got that right!!! The battery in my 02 BMW K1200RS just died and the BMW STEALER wanted $106 for a motorcycle battery .

I told them "now I know what BMW stands for " Burn My Wallet" He stated "Welcome to the European Driving Expierence"

I found one at Digikey for $50.

I had the "special" relay out on the horn when I bought the car and went to a parts house and they didn't have it. Went to the dealership and was expecting a few dollars and got stuck with 28.95!!!

I feel the pain, that is ridiculous!

When I first got the Vette and found the forum and saw how popular the Z06 Ti exhaust was I wanted one to replace my stock exhaust. You had to be fast because if you blinked a set would be sold here. I called the local Chevy dealer just to see what a new set would be. I told the parts clerk what I was after and got a quote of $1400 per side (the clerk even said HS ) not the set mind you, per side. So I went the ebay route.

I'm missing the little cover under the passenger side door pull. It's an oblong shape about 3/4" x 2", is plastic, and just snaps in place. The dealer wants about $7 for it. I read here a few months ago that you can get a package of ten of them for two or three dollars at GM Parts Direct.
