So I got pulled over yesterday
Your theory is interesting, or maybe a little
...but wait, there's more.. Did it have a V-tec emblem on the rear??? (oops!!! hope EG doesn't see this!!!)

I feel the same way, for a short period of time, after getting a speeding ticket. However, I've noticed the LEOs are out in full force during most major holidays... thats when I drive alot slower, too.

"yea youre honor I was speeding 19 miles over the limit, but because I drive a corvette I was picked on" so therefore I should not have to comply with the Law"

And while there may not be (many) more accidents after the speed limit increase, the ones that do occur are most certainly more severe, gruesome, and deadly.

Certain areas/road types allow faster speeds than others based off of traffic flow, access points merging on/off the road nearby, curves, road surface types. I just cant see them making limit signs set up as a revenue generating source. I have never heard nor has any other officer I know ever told me their command wants them out writing tickets because the city needs money.
Also if you raised the limits from 55 to 75 then people would just drive 95 and not much would change. Everyone always pushes it as far as they can.

Well, here's another story of a Vette owner with a radar detector that didn't prevent a ticket.
Red Vette's are sweet don't get me wrong but this is why I don't have one, they stick out like a sore thumb. You have to be more conscience of this when driving.
Not to stick up for the LEO but if it was you would you pull over the Vette or some VW if they were both speeding. I can just hear the VW driver saying "how come you didn't pull over the Vette". Better luck next time and don't take it for granted that you're safe just because you're traveling with the flow of traffic.
While a Vette as well as many many other cars can cruise all day long at 90 in relative safety, could you imagine the impending danger when a 1977 Rust Oleum American Classic Family Sedan with a racoon tail on the antenna comes rolling into your rear view at 95 mph. Smoke billowing out of his tailpipes, rust falling from a car that has 4 wheel drum brakes with a big mac luggage carrier strapped to the roof with some twine and some poor person driving it thinking that he's got it all under control.
Here in Virginia there are so many people that are just bad drivers. Speeding is the least of the issues. I feel bad for the LEO's who have to pull people over that think it's ok to do 55 in a 55 during a snow storm.
The number of times I drive my vette (or any other car) to work in rush hour traffic (These people have never been to NYC at rush hour) and honestly felt that chill that runs down your spine and the heart attack feeling that occurs when you are scared to death because some $#@$#@# fellow driver doesn't realize that brake lights on the 600 cars in front of them might mean that they should slow down and he comes to a squealing stop inches from my very large, very shiney, very black rear end.
Odds are that while I have managed to survive 37 years without any legal infractions beyond speeding, I am going to end up in jail for
beating the stupid out of someone who rear ends me. The worst part is that the traffic stops in the same spot every single day, and every single day someone skids to a stop.Ok Sorry for the rant
and
Sorry for your ticket. I hope it doesn't ding your insurance too bad.
