Default first Vette

Bought my first Vette last Wedsday and what a ride! 2000, black 6 speed, 19k miles (garage queen), HUD, SRC, active handling. Driving this car is the most fun you can have with your clothes on!! This is a great forum, better than the BMW forums I've been frequenting. Gonna be fun adding mods, my list as follows: Blackwing, Corsa exhaust, Hurst short shifter, upgrade leather shift boot, Z06 shift ****, Colgan or GM nose cover, and the list goes on forever!!
Any thing I need to "look out" for in the course of ownership?? Plan on using Mobil 1 every 3k miles with K&N filter- is it possible (smart) to stretch the 3k to 4k?? Any Corvette clubs in SoCal (yeah I know)??

Anyway, this is my favorite website, nice being part of the family!!

Welcome to the Corvette World! Your synthetic oils can go a lot farther than 3000 miles!

Check out the Regional Section of the forum for events near you

I "stretch" my oil changes to 5k . It's easier for me to remember 5,10,15, 20... than it is 3, 6, 9, 12.... Plus, I'm already into the 100k range...

Congratulations! Have fun with your new Car!!! I change my Mobil 1 every 3,000 with a K+N oil filter (for it's anti drainback valve). I'm sticking to 3000 for my first 5 or 6 oil changes with this car just in case the previous owner wasn't too punctual on the oil changes. Doing this, you would be suprised how the synthetic oil flushes out your motor if you don't let it get dirty in there. Just a tip. Also for common C5 problems that you might want to look for go to the tech tips section on this site and you'll find what you need. The things I would look for first are leaking battery positive terminal damage to the PCM and wiring, and making sure that the BCM isn't in any danger of getting wet. Good luck and have fun!!!

Default My first vette too!

Congrats dude! I know exactly how you feel. I just bought my first vette two weeks ago. It is also a black 2000 C5 Coupe 6-Speed. My car was also a garage queen, I got mine with only 14,500 miles on it!
Just like you I absolutely love it! Its is my daily driver and I cant wait to drive it everyday!
This forum is very good, I find myself on here at least twice a day.
I just made my first mod, I bought the C6 shift ****, to fit on my C5. It should be here on Tuesday!

Nice and Welcome. I have a 2001 triple Black six speed. As far as the oil. I stick to 3K on the change , just a personal choice.

Congratulations on the vette and welcome to the forum!! A mod list a mile
long sounds about right!!

I use Amsoil and change it every 5000 to 5500 just because I can't go to
7,500 miles. I use mobil1 in the family car and change it every 5000/5500.
The vette would be the same. I'm comfortable with this interval.
