I agree with people moving over except those same people who drive slowly in the left lane. For those people, my Tahoe does a much better job of getting them out the way. I guess it is because they know you are stuck behind them and the vette is so small there isn't the intimidation of "running em over" like in the tahoe when they have a rearview full of grill. Other than those jerkoffs I get more respect on the highway in the vette than in anything else I have driven. People just want to let you pass to check it out, hell I do it too sometimes.
nothing pisses me off more than slow drivers in the lefthand lane who will not let anyone pass. they give no one respect.
Always an adventure up here in WA I think we have more than our share of people who have no clue, road rage a$$wholes, morons behind the wheel, ricers who think there it, of course we get a herd of 18 wheelers heading to BC and they sit in the fast lane for 12 miles, I-5 is only two lanes for the last 60 miles to the border I drive 50 of it one way to work and I get some courtesy about %50 of the time its just brutal !!!!
Usually they get passed whether they like it or not But there is some truth to what you've noticed I think, except for 18 wheelers!!! they think they own the friggin roads!!
Tell me about it. I had a '97 3000GT VR-4 that I was selling awhile ago. I had it sold and it would not pass emissions, so the shop gave me a set of steps to follow to retrain the computer as they suspected that was the case.
We had to go between 20 and 40 mph on the freeway changing RPMs and such for a few miles. The speed limit was 75 and the trucks would not switch lanes even though the adjacent lane was open. We had to ditch it onto the shoulder quite a few times. That was one of the most stressing times behind the wheel.
The problem ended up being that certain years didn't pass inspection via ODBII and they had to just get an exemption and check the fumes.
I just got rid of my Camaro and bought my Vette. And I've noticed now that everyone gets out of my way on the highway or any road for that matter. That never happened in the F-Body. I guess its the respect factor or they just want to check out the car. Love it.
.... something about flying up on people at 120 that makes them nervous.
I try to be respectful of everyone but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!! Fortunately we drive a car that gives us alot of options....go...or go fast...or stop!!

I agree that people should not go "slow" in the fast lane. But, to get on their rear and give them a face full of grill is just plane STUPID! Okay, they may hold you up a few minutes so you tailgate in a large SUV and set up a potentialy disasterus situation?
I'm not going to say that others don't look at the car, but I think, to some extent, many of us are projecting our feelings about Vette's on others. I would bet that the vast majority of people don't even notice us, unless there is something unusual or loud about the car.
A few years ago, before I thought of getting a Vette, I never really noticed them. I might see a Vette and admire it the same way I would any nice car, or a nice jeep for that matter, but no "envy" or "respect" or any of that stuff. There are many nice cars on the road, and I would bet money that not nearly as many people notice us as we think.

While I do see this, all the time, Im ALWAYS thanking them with a wave or a peace sign or something,............. as for the ones that go out of their way to be,.....................dificult,....... ..........I'm absolutly merciless and the "Bullets" never fail to puncuate the ,....period........
Yes, I was pulling out of a parking lot on to a busy road today. Some guys was waving for me to cut in front of him, as he stopped in a line of cars at a red light.... he was pulled up the bumper of the car infront of him .
I motioned, "I have no room" (duh)... and he proceeded to back up to make room . When he backed up the car behind him, he honked his horn and motioned for the guy behind him to back up to give him some room .
The guy behind him backed up, he backed up more and let me in
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee for my daily driver and haven't been real happy with it.(In fact, I hate it. 6 months until the lease is up, whoo hoo!)
With that said, when trying to merge into traffic and you run across the "not gonna let you in" guy, the situation can be broken down to which one of you is willing to crash rather than yield to the other.
In my case, I always "win" because I could really care less what happens to that rolling pile of crap that they leased to me. It is usually at the dealer once a month anyway, might as well repair some crash damage while they are at it.
I usually don't give them an option as to whether or not to let me in. I find it relieves their stress when they don't have to make the decision themselves. Then everybody seems calmer.

i beg to differ....yesterday,great day in NYC,stop to shoot some baskets with my 10 year old son. the moment we pulled up in the park, nearly every kid there, stopped, stared, acknowledged, the Vette my son noticed and even unfazed as he is,said,"these kids are really checking for you" vast majority not noticing its gets really really funny sometimes, the machine is like a celebrity

Well...you have not really "differed". I was never my contention that people do not look at the vehicle, or even that some people won't go ape sh*t over it. Clearly, some people notice the car. I just don't think as many people notice it and "respect" it (whatever that means exactly) as has been suggested.
While a damn fine car, a Vette is not as exotic as a Ferrari, Lambo, etc...most people probably see them quite frequently. Additionally, what percentage of the people out there that can afford a Vette choose to buy one? Very small percentage. The Vette is not beyond the reach of most with an upper average income (even more so when the used market is considered). I wonder why all of those people cruising around in expensive SUVs, Mercedes, BMW, higher end Toyotas, etc...didn't buy a Vette? Surely it isn't practical for some, but I will also suggest that many don't want it as much as what they chose to drive. Otherwise, they would have bought one.
Look at www.VWVortex.com many of those people openly state their belief that people are constantly drooling over their Volkswagens. Check out a BMW enthusiast site...yop, you will see the same. Projection...that's what most of this is.
I do realize that I am like a salmon swimming upstream in this thread...sometimes it is tough to be a realist.
