when you are merging into traffic ie; entrance ramps, do you think that others let you pass in your Vette more often than not ? i've noticed that a lot of drivers will see me and let me go as opposed to when im driving my other machine. cant tell if its hp the Vette respect factor,or both like it just the same though!
Usually they get passed whether they like it or not But there is some truth to what you've noticed I think, except for 18 wheelers!!! they think they own the friggin roads!!

I have noticed this as well- I think it is because people want to take a close look at the car and it is easier to do from behind....

i think i agree with that, the machine is an attention grabber. i see alot of woman holding their boyfriends/husbands hands at traffic lights in NYC and staring at the machine, and im hoping he doesnt remember me somewhere else,i digress
I had someone in a new VW Turbo trying to keep me from merging by speeding up. I guess they thought because the word "Turbo" was on the car it was fast. The look of surpise when the Stingers shook their car as I "safely" blew by was priceless....

I have noticed this too....i think they are definately intimidated by the car. I also notice people don't cut me off as much or pull out in front of me from stide streets either. However when i am driving daily car it seems i hit the invisible mode button
I have noticed this too that people are more likely to let me merge and not put up a fight, but of course their is the moron everyonce in awhile that tries to be a tough guy. Usually it seems that it is not so much that they make an effort to get out of the way, but they just assume im going for it ,, oh yeah and i got insurance even more of a reason to watch out
When I get to the merge, I'm usually doing the speed of traffic, or a little more, in 3rd, at about 3500 rpm. So those Corsa's kind of make an announcement, and I'm usually in before anyone can do anything about it, even if they wanted to.

your avatar is GREAT........... you drive into the city much ? i have people who see going on to the FDR in my Vette who mostly let me merge w/o the hassle, when in my truck,it seems they take it real personal and not the same treatment
i pass people whether they like it or not .. worse case scenario if some jerk off wont let me by I continue to merge into their lane anyways .. i've come very close before and generally speaking when people see the vette they get outta my way
.. something about flying up on people at 120 that makes them nervous.
As much as they may want to look at the vette, I think people let you in because they know that you will not slow them down. They don't let the Toyota in front of them because they don't want to get stuck behind it on the highway.

maybe you should come to fl dude .. not everybody that drives a vette 'round here goes 80 ..
Back in 1998 I had a late 70's ford pick up truck. That thing was a piece of crap. No pipes, no floor boards to speak of. NOW THAT was an intimidator. I could come of the off ramp and just glare at people and they got outa the way. A dude driving sumppin like that doesn't care about driving 3 wide on a two lane road............
