Default Chrome wheels for winter

Well I am purchasing a 2000 Mil Yellow Vette.. bought it from 98tranz great guy.. on the car it only has the z06 chrome replicas from corvette of houston.. I live in NJ where in the winter we get snow/salt etc etc.. I know you should never drive chrome in the winter but see people all the time.. these are stock c5 factory size 17s and 18s ... i know on my caddy with 20s i take them off but does size make a difference? Does anyone leave their chrome z06 reps on in the winter is areas that receive snow/sleet/ice ?

I have chromies (Z06's) from Bob. I live in Tennessee so we don't get much snow. But when we do I just leave it in the garage. If I were you I wouldn't expose the wheels to the salt on the roads.

Yes. That is what I use on my 2004 during the winter. Exact fit.

Default Chrome Year Round

I live Massachusettes.
Winters have been pretty tough the last two years.

While I don't take the Vette out when it's snowing, I do drive it in the winter thru all the salt and slush.

I have a set of Repros from Corvette Mikes. I have had them for 4 years. They still look damn good. I put a coat of wax on them every so often and they're good to go.

My Buddy bought a set thru West Coast Corvettes and they are a mess.

The Chrome is much better on mine and they took my OEM wheels in for credit. The whole deal cost me $850 with shipping.

I've got chrome (not polished but real chrome) Y2K rims on my 98 coupe and I drove the car everyday last winter, even in snow. I simply put on some Blue Magic chrome polish and it protected the rims, plus got rid of any nasty stuff which was dulling the finish.

Nothing can be much worse than Michigan winters. Keep a coat of wax on and rinse off the salt and should be fine. Works for me.

I have a set of the chrome Z06's on mine. When it gets to be about November, I swap out my chrome wheels for a set of factory painted ones. The chrome ones go back on usually in March. I just do not want to use the chrome wheels after they lay salt down.
