Default Air Pressure

Wondering how many pounds of air to put in my stock tires. Going on a small trip. At the time, I have what the tire says to put in, 44lbs.

Thanks

Are you sure it doesn't say the max is 44psi? Usually around 32psi is the norm.

I run 28psi rear and 35psi front. 44psi seems very high but I am no tire expert.

I'm not completely sure but 44 lbs. sounds like a little too much pressure. Check the sticker on the driver-side door jam and it'll tell you what they should be.

Just took 14lbs out and we will see how that works. Probably will ride a little better.

car weighs roughly 3100lbs.. divide that by 100

31psi per tire

If you're running 44psi you'll have some major premature wear in the center of the tire

Corey, where did you come up with that? I have never heard of it being figured like that but I like it. Did you pull this info from some tire spec?

Run the suggested pressure of 30#... you might want to add a PSI or two for extended Hwy driving... 44psi is MAX pressure for the tire.

30 PSI is what the mfr. recommends. As stated above, it's written right on your door jamb. No one mentioned that this is the pressure when COLD and should be adjusted accordingly with the seasonal temperature changes. Your operating temperature will then be a few pounds higher. The 44 is the max pressure recommended by the tire mfr. and under highway conditions would be too high once they are warmed up.

It's ok the put a few extra pounds for a highway trip and help reduce fuel consumption as well as cover yourself for the wide variations in temps on trips. Have a nice trip.
