Yes, you can both decrease shift time and increase shift firmness with programming (Predator/HP Tuners/ LS1 edit etc.) however....

... you would be increasing transmission line pressure significantly. A shift kit does the same thing but differently - by directing and redirecting fluid within the valve body. There is a small increase in line pressure but nothing like programming.

Increased line pressure is not a good idea in the long term.

Why is this thread still alive??? Just buy the d@mn $120 Transgo Shift kit, install it and have fun.

My car came alive when I installed mine - with stock TC and 2.73:1 gears to boot.

L4 tranny has beefier and stronger sun and planatery gears, much stronger clutch packs, updated valve body and better seals, valves etc.

Designed to take more abuse and horsepresure than stock.
