Default Is it true?

Is it true that red cars cost more to insure? And do they statistically get into more accidents?

If that last part is true, maybe it's because Torch Red has been one of the most popular colors made for the Vette and there are more of us on the road than any other color.

Truth be told, red sports car drivers are very careful and never exceed the posted speed limits.

I don't know if it is true or not, but I have had my insurance company ask what color the car is before. Maybe it is because of the premium colors you can get now.

I agree with the old wive's tale comment. A few years back a group in California actually performed a formal study on this. They tracked colors of vehicles that received tickets and also tracked the proportions of various colors of cars on the road.

Their conclusion? If anything, the color that got the most tickets was white, but they called the difference "statistically insignificant". I really wish I had the documentation to back up what I heard, but don't so you'll just have to trust me on this one.

Never got a ticket in seven years of driving a red car, but got them driving a blue Pontiac and a black Ford.

Actually, I'd think that yellow would be the worst. It's the most visable and attracts the most attention.

THEN red.

While us stealthy black vettes just sliiiiiiiide on by!

some have been known to call it " Arrest Me" red , not torch red as
it does attract all kinds of attention.

I don't know the answer to your question for sure and I am not in the insurance business; however, I don't see that the color of the vehicle would be a significant factor in the determination of "insurance risk". So, I doubt that it plays any role at all.
