Note some important details from that gmbuypower site:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Excludes 2005 Chevrolet Corvette and medium duty trucks. Take delivery by July 5, 2005. See dealer for details.
†Tax, title, license, dealer fees and other optional equipment extra. See dealer for specific pricing details.

You build your own car/truck with options and print it out now for and '05 and in November the MSRP will be the same. I do this every time I buy a new car/truck every few years.
GM has traditionally had price increases a couple of times a year. I have actually seen two identically equipped vehicles on a dealer's lot with different MSRPs! The difference was the build date.

I guess it depends on the market you live in. I know when I bought a truck a few years ago, I walked across the street to a Ford dealer, told them I could get the GM Employee discount, and asked what they coukd do for me. They said they could do better, but in the end, they didn't come close. This was before the redesign of the F-150 when the Silverado was a superior product.

are you employed by GM - or do you work for a contractor???

I've never had a Ford or Dodge dealer give a 17.5% discount on anything new.
