Craig,

Read my signature. Stock heads, cam, intake manifold, and throttle body. 410 RWHP on a stingy Mustang chassis dyno.

And I was waiting for you to add this so I will, one of the best mods we can all do is take a good racing school program. This will make you faster and safer

But I would sure like 400 rwhp

2004 Silver Z06 here....

I got 390rwhp/379tq with:

1.) Vararam/K&N filter
2.) Air Duct/smooth tube
3.) LG headers with cats
4.) B&B Twin Tip Bullets
5.) Dyno tuned at LG's

Video of my car in action:
http://mysite.verizon.net/res0aae8/z06/drivebydyno.mpg

Feels like a beast to me.... but then again AFR heads, and LG cam is looking tempting (Goal = +450rwhp)

I also will need: Throttle Body, LSX intake.

Guess it will be time for a new clutch too with thoes HP numbers !

Thanks all for the input.

It looks like this seems to be the way to go:
Cold air intake (Vararam) (need more info on cyclone)
Smooth air duct
X Pipe
Long Tube headers
High flow cats
(exhaust to keep the Ti back half)
Good tune (Does LS1 Edit work well with the LS6?)
This combo sounds like it will get me close but maybe not all the way there.
It also appears this will keep the sound manageable.

To add a bit more and get over the 400 barrier, it sounds like a couple more things may be needed:
New Throttle body (what size? how much does this help?)
Rockers (is this an adjustment or new rockers of some sort? How intrusive is this to the top end? Warranty?)
Pulleys (I have seen this make a difference on some cars, But it seems this may be a 3HP mod for the Z06)
Cam will, at this point, put me way over the top HP wise (again, I need to ask about warranty but also cost for cam and install and about daily drivability)

And of course, top all of this off with a good performance driving school.

I don't know much about my car but it dynoed at 401 rwhp with mods in sig.

It's tuned too so I wonder what's wrong with it. Is it possible that the cam is so mild that it just isn't putting out that much?

I was making 410.5rwhp@ 6800rpm /386ft/lbs@ 5000rpm. (Cam Only) before my Kooks long tubes and 3" off road (no cats) / 3" X pipe. Getting it re-dynoed ASAP. Hopefully at least 425+rwhp.

Just got back from the dyno today. SAE numbers 424.5rwhp and 403.2 lb./ft. Alot of people post the STD numbers to show big gains, they were 435rwhp and 418lb/ft. but, I rather go with the SAE numbers that are a true representation of my run. A/F is 13:1.

to get 400rwhp without a cam or rockers or heads etc, you are gonna have to be very lucky

390 isnt too difficult but around there you start to max out

Are you saying almost 430 RWHP with just the 3 mods you listed?

I need more details, are the cats in place?

Driveabilty was nearly identical to stock and since the cats are in place, might even pass smog!
