If you read the forum post you can see that not very many people like the look of the new model vett. I think thats why the C 5's are still selling so well. No one I know is willing to pay what the new vett is going to sell for ($74,000) when they can buy 2004's for 40K. Thats just my thoughts.
$74,000 ?????? The C6 coupes I have seen are in the mid 50's while the Verts are in the low 60's. Once the newness wears off on the C6 you will start to see some discounting and they will really start rolling out the door.
The base price for the C6 coupe is about $45k, $53K for the vert and $65k for the Z06. Now I am sure some dealers will be marking up the Z06 when it first comes out and if you add options it will be more as well.
As that those prices for what you get it is still the best value in a sports car.

tom...
the last C6 vert with Z51 and SB1 that I seriously considered was $58,918
to be honest I hated the C6 at first, but now I am starting to like it. I really like the interior over the C5, but I am still not sold on the headlights.
I also like the idea of no key entry, but that would not sell it for me...

It is hard to believe that anyone would be willing to pay the local dealer markups when there are a lot of dealers (all on the internet) that will sell them to you at sticker or below all day long.
Not wild about the coupe but the vert is starting to grow on me. My C5 is paid off and I'd rather use the money for mods. I'll end up with a car exactly like I want it.
I wonder how many owners of previous generation Vettes have had exactly the same discussion.....years come and go but attachments to inanimate objects go beyond financial worth......they include attachments to circumstances, moments in time, particular songs on the radio and many other irrational but motivating forces.....phew

I agree that those of us with the very last generation (C-5) talk bad about the new generation (C-6) as I am certain the past generations did also. I feel they are pricing the new ones to high. My 2003 stickered for about 43K I did not pay that much since I know the salesman and the dealer really well. You can not get a C-6 equipped with what I have except in the low 50K's.
I do agree that we all will at some point in time accept and start to like the looks of the C-6. As of right now my 2003 Red C-5 looks better to me. One more opinion; the new red is not as sharp as the Tourch Red, sorry GM and C-6 owners the Tourch Red is better.

I like the C6, but the difference in price between mine and a new one is just more than I want to pay at this time. Besides, my C5 does everything I want it to, so why upgrade.
Last month my neighbor sold her ‘03 C5 coupe and picked up a loaded C6 coupe. She had a C4 prior to the C5. She has some Vette history.
Her comments have been very surprising regarding her C6.
She has stated that....
She does not feel she is driving a Corvette. The car feels like a Cadillac because of lack of road feel and lack of engine compartment and road noise in the passenger compartment. The sound of the exhaust is non-existent from inside or out. She is in the market for an aftermarket replacement ASAP.
Also, the interior has lost the Corvette look because of the deletion of the passenger side grab bar. She likes the C5 interior.
From the way she talks I would say that she is definitely disappointed in her C6.
Not that I dislike the styling of the C6 but I prefer the styling of the C5 much more.
LOL at the folks who think the c-6 isn't selling. There isn't a dealer in the country who wouldn't take more coupes, verts, and z06's. The c-6 is selling very well. PERIOD.
The C5 will have a decent value for the first three years of the C6. You will see a big drop in C5 value when used C6's become readily available when people turn them in from a 3 year lease.

When people stops staring at my car then I will buy another one

Yeah, the base prices aren't too bad, but those option prices are outrageous. They jack the car up in a REAL hurry.
I remember the first time I really looked at the C6. It was about 6 months ago at Kerbeck's. Those guys gave me a really good tour of the place. Showed me the muscle car collection first. Well, they had a Blue C6 with the Z51 package in the showroom. I wanted to test drive that one because all the car magazines did the test drives in them. It was not to be. They let me drive the "PINK" one that was specially mod'ed for Vicki Kerbeck. Man I felt like a total jackass driving around Atlantic City in a pink Vette. Well, the power and handling was impressive and the interior was very nice. But GM beats you to death with all the useless electronic gadgets. They messed up when they parked the blue C6 next to my C5. My C5 blew it away, even with just the little mods I have on. I like the C6 and I acknowledge it as a Corvette but the exterior styling is just not up to par with the C5's.
