Dynamat Extreme
On Tuesday, I ordered a bulk pack (36sq ft) of Dyna-Mat Extreme from these folks in L.A. Kalifornia. Just received it an hour ago. $139 + $20 bucks shipping. I don't believe this has the usual Corvette tax on it. I probably have enough to do 2 layers nearly all the way around. For those considering some soundproofing, I thought this was a good deal. Anyway, my weekend is planned! https://www.woofersetc.com/product.asp?0=0&1=0&3=741
Actually...if you are planning on doing the entire car you will need 2 of those boxes plus possibly a few more sheets.
I did mine over the winter using the 36 sq ft kits and I ordered 2 of them and came up just short. I ended up getting a few sheets from a buddy of mine.
If you are only doing the rear you will be fine, otherwise you wont even be close. Plus, if you plan on doing the doors you will need even more.

Good luck
Wow...thanks. I guess I just though 36 sq would cover it. At least I can get the back done and do the passenger area later. That was the idea anyway...I love my Borlas, but need to tone them down a little on the inside.

Thanks again :
No problem. I know it looks like there is a ton of the stuff when you are looking at it in the boxes but you will be amazed how quickly you run out. It seems like 1 box would go a long way, but it doesnt.
Actually, if you do the math its really not too surprising. 36 sq ft is only 6ft x 6ft (which is roughly what the rear area is including the vertical surfaces as well). You definitely need another box for the front area.

2k1 Vette..You were absolutely right. I did the trunk area and had no waste...only a handful of little tiny corners and scraps. I was only able to cover the hatchback area and had nothing left. 36 sq ft exactly. Looks like I am going to use FrostKing in the cockpit area.

I used Dynamat Extreme about 100 SqF Yeah.. I know .. sad.. but the bass is awsome and no screaches etc.. roadnoise is killed and i can barelly hear the Marbels in the can sound anymore !!! =)
Kinda confused about the wheel wells. It looks like you dynomated the well itself (where the tire goes) Can you give a bit more detail on how that went and how it is holding up? You must have had to paint them when you were finished.
I started off with 12 sq feet of DynaMat and quickly ran out, I finished my trunk area with FrostKing. I have since gone back in with more DynaMat. On a Z the improvement is dramatic since there is no insulation at all under the carpet.
Before
After
I found the best place to buy DynaMat is on eBay, $125 for 36 sq feet shipped.
As for the "corvette tax", those Dynamat boxes are usually three times as much (I've heard of people spending $80 for a 12 sq. ft. box before) so consider it a steal...

I took the wheel well panel off, applied the DM, then re-applied the panel (I have the pix labeled with [panel], without panel, etc.). The panel you see in the whell well is a cover. The actual body of the body is beneath it. Now, the only difference is, I used the shiny "aluminum" duct tape after (went back and rid that part). There is absolutely an improvement, but I think if you get non-run flats, you'll get the same results.
I put in 2 layers on the wheel well, inside the car, so this "exterior" layer was like a 3rd layer. I know I went a little overboard, but I was going for the max at the time.
Hope this helps.

You're not looking at the wheel well housings. You're looking at the rear compartment "tub". You have to first remove the wheel wheel well housings to get to this step. HTH
