Well I guess someone decided my car would look much better with a big scratch down the driver side of it. I was woundering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do. I would like to try to get most of the scratch out myself (if possible) instead of taking it somewhere to have it done. The majority of the sctratch is not to deep. there are just a few places where it is extremely noticible. Has anyone had this happen? What is my best course of action? (Next to finding the punk that did this, and buffing it out with his face.)
Sorry to hear about your misfortune Lickit. It was obviously the effect of jealousy, so if there is anything to feel positive about, it is the fact that someone else was obviously impressed with your ride.
I wish I had some good recommendation to offer but I don't. I've never dealt with that kind of repair before and especially not on fiberglas.
First...."Get a Rope." THose Azzholes will get theres. Did they go through the clear coat? If not you may be successful with some of the 3M products. If they did go all the way through I don't think there is a lot you can do. Others will give you some advice but you might also want to post in the Car Care section. Good luck.
My brother had his brand new 2004 Electron Blue Z06 keyed two weeks after he bought it. He parked it in the street in front of the building he had a meeting in, assuming it would be safe in public view. Well, such was not the case. Someone keyed it from the very front to the very back. He had to have the whole side repainted. The body shop did an excellent job. You'd never know it was repainted. Good luck. I remember my brother said he went from total rage to mere sadness at what happened to the car he had dreamed of owning his whole life. Jealously is a terrible thing. Good luck to you! Dan
Man, thats one of the worst things that happen to nice cars. Thru no fault or fun or recklessness of your own you get a really damaging vandal key your car.
I would suggest he make a police report and file with his insurance. I think a repaint may be needed and that is not cheap. Most fender benders are less expensive to fix. I am sorry to say that I know its not what you want hear, but depending on the depth and length of the scratch it may be the only way to get it mint again. And I know even if it buffs out and no-one else can even notice it, it will still be noticiable to him.
I promise this though I ever se anyone keying anyones car, I will grab thier *** and hand them over to the police. Damage over a certain dollar amount can get them some serious charges.

I agree, if it went through the clear, about all you can do is get it repaired at a good body shop. If it didn't go that deep, maybe some mild scratch remover would work.
Most of the scratch did not go through the clear coat. There are a few areas where it did though. I appreciate all of the input all of you have giving, thanks.

Sorry it happen to you but you're not alone. Mine was keyed on driver's side also and yet I tried zaino 5 but the scratch is too deep. The only way is to take it to the shop and if you do you would hope they match the paint. I didn't take mine since the shop is so far and being garage just means I deal with it! it'd be aweful if paint didn't match right?
I would take the clay bar to town on the scracth first and then some kind of scrach remover. Some cool person helped himself to my rear deck emblem and this this techinque (with touch up paint) made the marks look acceptable.
