Well, I was entering the highway via the on ramp and shot up to about 90 to get the clear lane, nothing reckless I assure you, I cut no one off, just a happy speed to get there and I noticed this mercedes benz follow my line. Well, we are cruising about 70mph and another on ramp a BMW was cruising with us. Well, the merecedes, doing about 85 (passed me) locks up and slows to about 40 mph. I am like "what tha f%@#?" and I think, police. Well, I am cruising with the BMW around 70 mph and then a WHITE SUBURBAN pulls up behind me and follows me a mile and lights pop on. I move over two lanes and the passenger (officer) yells that I was doing 90 mph back there and to slow down. I provide that I am guilty your honor smile and yell back, I'm sorry, I will slow it down. He does the same thing to the BMW and the guy shoots over four lanes of traffic and exits the highway. I think a NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE line I often tease..."LUUCKY!"

Just wanted to share that there are some friendly's out there that will give you a warning. Thanks HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT for not giving me a ticket!

I did something similar leaving the Cruise-in. Too bad I didn't have the same luck as you. I got the "son did you steal this car" of course I say "no" then the obvious "well, you sure are driving it like you did" Then he was nice and presented me with a fast driving certificate. I am glad to hear you didn't get pulled over.

 

Speeding with OTHER cars, will get you stopped/ticketed faster than SOLO.

find a car or cars going whatever speed pop into the far right lane about 1/4 mile back from them and pace w/ your radar active and well that's about as good as it gets.

I have a similar story,same outcome....but did I ever feel like I was in the crosshairs!!!

Getting on freeway on-ramp,that I was fairly familiar with,except for one thing!
I was first in the left hand turn lane to the onramp,when the light turned,I took off fairly easily. As soon as I saw it was all clear in front, and behind me,I got into it!...WOT,clear onramp, no cars even in sight and a 12 ft.block wall on the right next to the on ramp all the way up,as well as coming "up" to freeway level( I was kinda in a hole)

Well, the pipes were singing(especially off that wall...VERY LOUD)
There was only one thing I never noticed before and could not see at all.
And that was a small "S" curve in the block wall where officer friendly was tucked away!"HOLY S@@T!" I immediately backed off..
I had never noticed that before and it's really deceptive! (Think they put those there purposely?)

I never ,technically,exceeded the speed limit ......but I sure made some noise!!

I thought, here it comes...he never even put it in drive ...WHEW!

BTW, this was all very much under control and safe,except the officer part

 

Count your blessings. You got off lucky.

 

How in the heck do you do 90mph in Hawaii.
Thought you could only get to about 60 before you fell off into the ocean.
