All have combos of scratches, swirl, orange peel, etc. I love Zaino, but it accentuates the imperfections up close...
I know this has nothing to do with paint but I see you are from Ames. I'm about 2 hours south of you in Leon. Is what I was wondering was if you know of any place in Des moines that would chrome my wheels on my 97 vette? I thought there was a place but wasn't sure where it is.
i would have to say go with meguiars gold class... i love it so much....
but i love a black car, it keeps me maintained and busy..i love keeping it clean....

Don't own a Black Vette but I believe it is the absolute Shiznit when clean! Nothing like a shiney Black Vette! I don't have the drive that it takes to keep a Black car immaculate but if I did I would own one in a heartbeat.
If you never drive them they always look great, and thats the point. These cars were meant to be driven so I do the best I can to keep it looking good and try not worry too much about show quality paint.
My 2000 FRC black/black had a tough life before I bought her. I have buffed the car out twice now, using a PC orbital buffer starting with 3M Swirl Remover, then Meguiars Scratch X, then 3 coats of Zaino Z5 and 2 coats of Z2-Pro. It still turns heads but the front facia has too many chip/dings to touch up, so I don't worry about where the next one will come from. Drive it and have fun.
True enough, but I wouldn't own another color for a vette. Some things I do that make owning a black car easier:
1. I only wash my car with Deionized water. Only costs me about 50 bucks a month and I can wash it at least 20 times a bottle. Never need to worry about spots
2. I keep my vette garaged, so I don't worry too much about bird droppings and the things alike.
3. I budget painting my front fascia once a year. Usually right after winter. It is impossible to keep chips from developing on the car and I'm not a fan of bras. A good painter can match the texture and keep the look fresh. Usual cost is around $500.
4. I don't use silicone based waxed very much. They seem to build up and lesson the shine, at least that's my opinion.
I have a black truck, and my Harley is black aswell. So I guess I'm pretty much sold on the color. Ya gotta admit it look great when it's clean.
