I've got Borla Stingers, but haven't installed a X pipe as yet. From what I understand about the only thing the X pipe does is reduces the interior drone at certain rpms and the popping back when decelerating. I don't have any drone and like the snapping. It reminds me of the old days of steel pack Hollywood mufflers.
My experience with a Corsa x-pipe on a Corsa cat-back system is that it mostly eliminated the annoying poping and cracking of the exhaust on deceleration.
I have borla stinger quads which produce annoying interior resonance at certain rpm's. I am going to try the x-pipe and see if it helps reduce the drone enough to make a noticeable difference
Sure would like to know how that turns out; because I got rid of my Borlas for that same reason..went to ZO6 Ti and much happier..
Sound is pretty relative. If you want to hear your Vette sound Throaty and deep, go excite some ricers (or worse - a Japanese bike) and you will here the high-pitched comparison. With any exhaust the Vette is going to sound deep and throaty compared to those!
I have the Borla Stinger quad tips on mine. At first I just had them put on - no X pipe. Like some of the previous posts have mentioned, the result was some poping on deceleration and when I'd take my foot off the gas to shift gears. Had a Corsa X pipe put on and it made a huge difference. I don't think it makes a heck of a lot of difference whose X pipe you use. Just about all the poping was eliminated. And it smoothed out the sound. Sounds really nice now. If you have a deal lined up now for the X pipe and plan to slap Borlas on later, I'd say, do it now - get the X pipe.
