Just anecdotal evidence, but every vette I come across waves at me now that I have my C5 vert. It was 50/50 or so with my C6. One more perk of C5 ownership. Posted a pic on the C6 board and got the comment....that's sooo C5. Ooops. That's okay. I'm totally happy with my decision. My best friend, who was thrilled when I got a vette, is even happier now that we both have C5's. His is an 01 coupe.
Not to but I think as each new generation "anything" (corvettes, jeeps, etc) the older styles have been around for a while are driven by more of an enthusiast as opposed to the new bodystyle which may have been bought by someone who thought it was a cool car and could afford it. (some, not all.... alot of guys that buy them were/are already corvette enthusiasts)
I think it's rare (though I'm sure it does happen sometimes) that the drivers in the C6 "snub" the older generations, I just think they don't know about the brotherhood yet.

Most of the above is probably correct - other than the C6 CD actually has a section regarding the 'wave'.
Apparently the new C6 owners cannot read, or they have refused to read the manual, or they are just not willing to wave at the 'older' generations.
I did wave at a C6 this morning. I was stopped trying to merge into the traffic. The driver cruised right on by without any acknowledgement. That's okay, I was really waving at the car.
I have a black '78 (owned it for 8 years) that I show and drive hard, I have always waved at every vette I saw and 99% waved back...the ones that didn't wave back probably did not see me. The saturday after the terrorist attack, the club went out for a cruise. There were probably 10 vettes nose to tail in the right hand lane on I-85. A car slowly passed us and in the back seat was a boy around 7 or 8 years old. He had a matchbox (or hot wheels) corvette that he held up for us to see. His eyes were huge as he looked at each car as they passed us. After the shock of that attack, seeing that boys eyes and the look on his face was tonic for the soul.
2 weeks ago, I bought a triple black 2000 vert so now I have two black ones in the garage. I saw a shirt at a car show recently that I need to have made "I love my wife, I worship my car". When I told my wife, she did not see as much humor in it as I did. I now refer to the two cars as my mistresses, although sometimes I think a mistress may be cheaper (except for the divorce)

That's the coolest story I've seen here in a long time.
agree with the "a vette is a vette" school of thought. while we drive a c5 and wave at all vettes, for some odd reason, i find it more gratifying when a c1, c2, c3, c4, or c6 waves back-----sort of a we share a vette connection. bub
Keep in mind that C6 styling is designed to attract 'other' sportscar enthusiasts. So there are probably a number of 1st time Vette owners around who are not aware of the wave.
