Can you sell 2000 of these? Sure - there are about a quarter million C5s running around, but you'll need to market them beyond a single thread on one internet forum.

I know I'd be interested.

Good news is that they could be ready in less than a month, assuming i as satisfied with their molds and designs
So does this $450 price reflect a non-quantity buy? And does the price go down with the 2000 quantity order? I would like what you have for $450. How do I get that?

Guys-

I am going to make the kits. If some of you are soured then it isn't due to my honesty in my posts. As I have written, the modules I want to use are still not available, I only have one at this point. I have posted my progress in two threads on this forum. I have already been through this process for the 91-96 Caprice and Impala SS and have just completed my 25th mold revision for those headlights. It has been a long project but the Vettes will be easier and we have already started som preliminary design work. I don't think I have over promised nor misrepresented my intentions. I will build them just hang in there.

I'm willing to stick it out, but how much and when? When are the modules going to be available? Is this the hold-up? Feel free to PM me if you like... The days are getting shorter and my eyes are getting older; hit the big 4-O a few months ago !!!!

I'll continue the research, that way there will be two versions on the market, i'm not in it to make a huge profit. The housing themselves won't be the expensive part - the HID bulb, ballast, and ignitor will be. New ones are about 279, so an hid setup below 350 is pretty much out of the question. I will see what i can do about bi xenon, as a bosch bi xenon projector is too big to mount in the standard low beam lighting area - it hits the mounts. Perhaps a Hella or Valeo, which are both smaller, but don't have the light output. Bigger = Better. The tooling company has made headlight (housings) for BMW and several other exotic, kit type cars, so they have been around. I have been cautioned though that I specified plastic (lexan), which isn't as durable as glass, just like our headlights now. A clear vinyl covering should stop any rock peppering. They are tooling a model right now, after i view it and ensure it meets my standards (and anyone in the area that's willing to meet) they can start final production, which shouldn't take long at all.

Rock and Roll. Let's get this done SFengineer. The interest is definitely there. Thanks for picking up the ball on this issue.

Yes. It's the modules. They have changed availability dates several times which I can not control. I won't build anything that doesn't use/meet SAE/DOT compliant parts.

Now there will be two headlights to choose from
I'm defintely just an enthusiest, not a marketer. I'm actually viewing this as more of a "group purchase" than a profit making opportunity...just hoping to break even.

I sent over the 3D Auto cad designs to the manufacturer for them to make the molds. College was good for something after all!! Same size as our current headlights right now, with a 3 inch projector and a 3.75 inch halo (not set in stone, hoping the biggest that can fit). Looking at our current headlights right now, you'll see a circle on the low beam side. That's about the size of the projector, so imagine it a few inches back and surrounded by a 1/4 inch halo. Front plastic will be lexan and completely clear. Not sure how long it's going to take the mold to be made, but it shouldn't take too long. Being an engineer, i'm familiar with ISO quality standards, so when it is sent for myself and others to approve, we'll make sure it's exactly what we all want.

Now, for Bi-xenon, what do we do with the high beam side of the headlight!?? Rather than just leave an open reflector with a halgen bulb (both useless comparted to HID, couldn't even tell if it was on!) i'm willing to take ideas on what to put on that side. Don't be shy, you'd be amazed at what they can these days with a simple LED.

Lastly,

I will try to post a video or at least a link to a video of my car at night, with starting the headlights, the warming up period, and of driving. The pics just don't do it justice.

Hmmm.... how about dual Bi-xenon? Has that ever been done? Just a thought.

Only problem is that it may look like one of our American Airlines 777's taxiing down the road

V-P, Interesting idea, but i'm afraid that'd be so much light, you'd end up blinding yourself! I considered having another projector there, but it just adds weight, and unless you buy another set of ballasts, ignitors, and bulbs, it's useless. Even with a 90w halogen in the high beams right now, i can't even tell they're on when i'm running my bi xenons. Considering we're running nylon gears for our headlights, i'd rather not have to worry about too much weight, as i've seen several postings about with the glass euro H4's.

if someone is going to invest in a whole new set of lights such as these, a brass gear swap should be mandatory. there's no sense in getting these fancy lights without beefing up the motors that pop them up. my factory nylon gears went at 5 years.

Update from the manufacturer, all headlights they release are E or DOT/SAE approved before leaving their door, so that worry is out of the way. They'll write all DOT legalities on the headlight itself, as required by law. They can also provide the ballasts, ignitors, and bulbs for a little over $200, and they come with a one year warranty. They're not Phillips brand ballasts, but i've seen them on cars before. They're pretty much the same as i've been running for over a year with no problems. I have been sent some sample pictures of their headlights, and i'm very impressed. I'll get the pics up tomorrow.
