HID Lights
Can you send me all the part numbers for the different components you've been talking about and I'll check the prices?
back on topic though
id be really interested, i want some better light output
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
First. Does it look like the majority want a bi-xenon setup housed in a single projector? ( I like this idea as it provides the best lighting and saves on weight )
Second. Assuming that the answer to the first question is yes and you can cram in the largest projector that the space will allow what do you think will look the best next to it (where the current high beams are) ?
I have one of the "9006 HID in stock housing" kits that came with 6000K bulbs from Rev-Extreme and I love the color of my lights at night. Very easy on my eyes.
The last question is what do you think will be the Kelvin rating of the HIDs that your producer might include as a part of this complete lighting solution?
Lastly, SFengineer, you rock for taking this project on. Thanks
thanks for compliment!
I'd like to go with Bi-xenon, it just makes since to use the same bulb for both high and low beams. I put a posting earlier in regards to what should go on the other side where the high beam currently is on our cars. If you have any ideas, let me know. You never know with the technology we have today....Just try and make it cost effective.
As far as kelvin rating, i'd like to run just 4200k, the same as all production BMWs, Benz's, etc. I believe up to 6k is legal, and I don't like higher than that, a few reasons why
1 - The more blue the light, the more it's absorbed by the road, but not reflective surfaces. Therefore, some things are really bright(signs, markers, cars) others not(the road!). It confuses your retnas, so they dialate and shrink constantly, causing them become strained quickly
2 - Blue light tends to "bleed" above their cutoffs. If you have a razor sharp cutoff with 4200k, it'll look fuzzy with 6000k, and horrible with 8000k.
3 - it's more efficient. I'm not sure of the specs, but i'm pretty sure a 4200k bulb puts out twice the usable light as a 6.7k bulb. Switching from 6.7 to 4.2 made all the difference with my setup.
I am offered a good number of choices of kelvin rating tho, i believe 4.2k, 5k, 6k, 6.7k, and 8k. If purchased with the headlights, they'll give me a really good deal. PM me and i'll fill you in.

minus the blinker.. I agree with almost everybody else, the bi-zenon is a must and i would also reccomend the brass gear as somebody said eariler. Cant wait...you already have one pair sold to ME!!!!!
Let me know how much and when they're ready.

Maybe some people who show thier cars would like a strobe in the empty half..... or is that too ricey????

I kind of prefer the looks of the Peugeot 206 myself
I think you should place the largest Bi-Xenon projector that you can fit in the housing along with a Halogen projector lens next to it for symmetry. Otherwise it would look rather strange, don't you think?
I would also be interested in a non-popup version if they could engineer one that looked decent

Pop ups first and fixed maybe later, if possible.
