And if it is driven in the rain, if you wipe of the raindrops that won't leave spots right? Just curious.
Rain water typically doesn't leave spots because it's not hard water. My '04 is a daily driver no matter what the weather. However if I lived in an area that had snow with salted roads I wouldn't want to take it out as the salt can be corrosive to metal parts.
For me, I really enjoy polishing and waxing while its raining out A few beverages and i'm in business. No I don't drive in the rain and my 98 hasn't been in the rain. When the sun is out and its nice, for me, its time to drive it.
I get a lot of pleasure shining it up in the garage, no question about it!

We drive it to Bowling Green at least one per year and she's seen her share of rain but like others, I prefer a spotless clean car with a shine that will stop traffic. If it means that I don't drive the car on one rainy day so that I can drive her clean 4 others I'll gladly take the day off. I have a great daily driver for the one.

Yep...I just got through spending the last 7 hours detailing my Vette and you'd better believe that if it were to rain tomorrow, it would stay in the garage!
I did the whole routine...Dawn wash, #7 polish, NXT, interior detail, cleaned inside the wheels and wheel-wells,... takes a long time! No way is it getting dirty out in the rain anytime soon...

My DD is not so shabby either
My 98 also has never been in the rain... And she now has 19xxx miles..
Just say to the rain...
ive got over 170K miles on mine and drive it everyday and it still looks great...the combination of plastic and fiberglass body panels do a great job at preventing little dings/dents.
Then maybe we have different definitions for what constitutes looking great. The rounded wheel wells of the C5 are easily impacted by road debri that gets thrown off the tires. More so than it does with a C4 (it has straighter edges). A wet road will end up throwing larger road debri, as water is it's mode of transport. Sorry but I want no nicks due to my carelessness. If it were a 4 wheel drive truck I wouldn't care, but it's my pride and joy. I don't fault people for driving there Vettes in the rain (well only the ones that don't clean them), so please don't fault me not driving mine in the rain.
whatever...some of you ppl are insane over these cars, you can inspect my wheelwells all you want to, i've driven thru everything in this thing and they look fine.
doesnt matter either way...I'll keep driving mine thru everything and be happy and you will keep doing whatever you want and also will be happy, so its not that big a deal, we're both happy in our vettes
I have had mine in the rain a few times, but it was when I have been out of town and coming back home. If I have a choice I don't drive it in the rain because I can't drive it the way I like to. Also, although I don't mind giving it a good cleaning the time to do it is sometimes hard to find. It is not my DD and I like to keep it looking good. Ok, let me be perfectly honest. I HATE getting caught in the rain in it.
I can attest ... they will not only melt .. but they can shrink too!
This is Dave at his best. They will not shrink. Drive mine in the sun and rain. I can't go to many day's without driving mine. If I do I start to get sick.

I'm not insane over wanting to keep my car looking new. But I do know this, my car will look brand new 5 years from now, while others of the same year will look shot out. It's just a personal choice. And with gas at over $3.00 a gallon for premium, my car may also just sit out a few weekends besides the rain.

Did I read that. Rain water spots big time esp in the sun
As long as I have her she’ll never see a rain drop. I check the weather every night just to make sure there’s not a cloud for hundreds of miles. If there is I break out the bike. It only takes 3 hours to get show ready after a soggy ride to work and back. You can do what you want but I would at least put a old towel on the floor to dry your feet. To the guy that says there’s a little girl in every drop. I get covered in girl every time it rains. You should get a bike too.

I used to wash my car in the rain.
I figured it's got less chemicals than my bucket water and I didn't have to rinse! A soft mitt kept any scratching very minor concern. Now the lightning can be a real concern.
I admit that the showers in Florida make your car either a garage queen or regularly exposed. We just live with bug corpses. Wax and Rain-X are keep the removal manageable but then a white anything is openly inviting dirt 'scarring'. That and that butt collector.
I wonder when Chevy will give up on those recessd back lights. The bottom lip seems to find acidic particles that leave those little itsy bitsy dots of impossible to remove crap. You would have thought that they would test this in a wind-tunnel. Instead of smoke, throw a little ground burnt cork in the fan. Wherever it collects, eliminate the collector.
not sure why, but i don't take the vette out in inclement weather. i suspect, but am not sure, that it will not melt . i just try to be good to the baby....bub
