"Ride captain ride aboard your mystery ship"...Sorry reminiscing in the way-back machine on the oldies station.
A week after I bought my 2004 it rained and I was right in the middle of it. Guess what; my car and I were fine, no melting here.
I think allot of folks have waited a lifetime, understandably with todays price tag, to purchase their dream car. They put their prize on a pedestal and encapsulate it in an impenetrable bubble fearing the worst. If you aren't going to drive and enjoy your Vette why purchase one?
Isn't part of the enjoyment driving such a fine automobile, meeting other Corvette owners, curse nights etc?
"Get your motor runnin, head out on the highway"..there I go again
Personal choice is what it is all about. I retired after 36 years, and they bought out my sick days (340), so I finally got my Vette. Waited 45 years. I sold my Z-28, and the Vette is my car to drive. It is super clean at 22k (03 MN6), but my wifes 97 Lexus at 103K is super clean also. I have a patterned way to wash cars, they are always very clean. I drive mine always, oops.... 8 inches of snow last winter and it stayed in the garage. Keep at good was and go go go. My Z-28 had 86K when I sold it and it was 7 years old. The paint was in really great shape, the front had some samll sand or rock nicks in the paint, but it is a car - not a person. Just my .02 worth.

Here is a little fact that I found out while at the cruise-in this past May.
I went to a detailing presentation done by the museum and the person doing the presentation indicted that almost every vette has seen rain. When a new vette is produced it will sit in the outside storage area behind the plant for two to three week before delivery takes place. The reason for this is incase there is a recall on a part or other things, during that time sitting behind the plant it probably has seen rain.
Just as others have pointed out here on the forum, the biggest problem is'nt the rain, it's the road debris & crap flying off other peoples cars. This is a sports car & in my mind to be enjoyed in the SUN. I have a 4x4 for crappy days. As long as I own my silver bullet, she stays otta the rain.
As long as I have her she’ll never see a rain drop. I check the weather every night just to make sure there’s not a cloud for hundreds of miles. If there is I break out the bike. It only takes 3 hours to get show ready after a soggy ride to work and back. You can do what you want but I would at least put a old towel on the floor to dry your feet. To the guy that says there’s a little girl in every drop. I get covered in girl every time it rains. You should get a bike too.
When it is crappy out, the Z stays home, period. It has been wet on trips to the CNM, but it is not fun. With the car so low it is easy to get missed by others. They do OK in the rain, but it is not fun thinking of all the work that goes into making it the way it was before the rain. No biggie, just a good excuse to wash, wax, detail it all over again... Great for anger management

This is what I have been saying! Water on the car is not the problem. My car could sit outside in the rain and that wouldn't bother me, as that is an easy wipe down.
But it's the road debri from a moving car, that gets thrown up with the water that is the problem. Why don't some of you get that?

We do get it but when you read post like "My vette got wet what do I do!!!"
Rain not a problem but 7 inches of it in 3 hours - big problem as I found out 3 weeks ago. She was totalled (flood).
I try to keep her dry but its nearly impossible. Take the best care you can of it, but drive it and enjoy it. I aree with most in keeping her away from road salt and stay far behind tractor trailers (rock chips).
The rock chips do suck..I've gotten several on my windshield..all on sunny days. Sucks seeing a rock flying at your windshield then leaving a nice big ol mark
My 02 has never seen rain and won't while I own it. 7500 miles and never had anything on it but a layer of dust. Once a month the wheels come off and the undercarriage done with Simple Green. The Ti pipes gleam like polished silver.Car is wiped down or dusted after every drive and any bugs removed. Someone is going to get a hell of a nice car when I go for the Z,(then probably beat the tar out of it, but that's their choice. When I'm done with that I do my 33 Plymouth, that is still taking 1st place trophys everywhere we go after 14 years. Still like the day it was restored. I enjoy detailing them. Thats my choice.
