03' Daily driver with 23,000 miles of smiles....
Gimme your keys....Your vette is beggin you, in fact, crying to be driven hard... Ever hear of the phrase "Use it or Lose it"... That refers to the power. Dont be scared!
You really need to get that baby out and drive more!
It's your call as to how much you drive your car but I decided at my age I would not treat it as an occasional Disney "E" ticket ride, but instead, take advantage of that "thrill ride" almost daily!!
I have an '02 M.Y. Vert six speed which until recently when I was diagnosed with tongue and throat cancer (between stage 3 & 4) was driven only on weekends and to club events. Since my diagnosis in May, it has basically become my daily driver as I now drive it to my radiation treatments twice a day (about 75 miles total). I decided when I heard my doctor mention the "C" word in the same sentence with my name that the time to quit saving the Vette for someone else had suddenly arrived.
I will have my last radiation treatment today and my last "chemo" treatment next week. Although I hope and pray that I will survive this dreaded disease, the realization that I should enjoy the Vette while I can has really sunk in.
I now drive the Vette every chance I get.
I hope everything works out for you.
I too have trouble understanding why people store new cars, but to each their own. I'll drive mine until the wheels fall off, then I'll put some more on and keep going.

The best of luck to you. It took the unfortunate events of a few family members for me to realize that I wanted my Vette last year and not wait 10 more years. I went and bought my first ever BN car about 16 months ago. 19K miles on the Vette so far, 2 other vehicles in the garage, and I work at home.

I was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 then after my first 6 week session of chemo i had a heart attack i had 6 by-passes and surgery for the cancer more chemo/radiation I beat the cancer, but my energy level and attitude were very low my doctors advised me that i needed theripy, they wouldn't let me ride my Harley then so i went out and bought the vette and my attitude started to improve Now i can ride the Harley too shoot if my attitude got any better people would swear i was on drugs. The Harley 2004 model now has 16,000 miles on the speedo and the vette has 17,000 miles I rideum and driveum Its the American way
Just to give you some perspective, just this last weekend I put more miles on mine than you average in a year. I'm sure you derive a lot of pleasure from owning a Corvette, but just think of the enjoyment you could have if you drove one too.
To fellow Corvetteforum member's, I just felt like sharing my joy with you all. I own 2001 pewter, Which I bought in 9/30/01. As I pulled my baby in the garage after my drive, I noticed the odometer is at 4998 now
Add 70K and then we're about even. But hey, I'll give you some slack since your Vette is a year newer than mine . It was built to be driven, drive that bad boy!
If you drive it more you get to "pet" it more often...
I got the thrill of driving my C-5 five thousand miles,
after only three months. I pet it with the polishing cloth almost every day.

It's too bad you have missed the enjoyment of driving it over the years. I guess garage queen owners get some satisfaction out of telling people about how their low their mileage is, or that there has never been a drop of rain on the car, but that reasoning rolls off most people.
we try and tell TJ all the time to drive his car!! your losing money on the car no matter how many miles you put on it! why not take it out and enjoy it?!?
TJ says he gets the biggest smile every time he takes the car out.... i tell him.... i get that same smile EVERY day!!!
TJ im in CT right now, drove here, and will be heading back next week. about a 4000 mile trip all together. and this sunday im driving the vette all the way up to NY to meet up with some other corvette forum members to cruise!! roof off, and nothing but smiles!

LATE TJ
8000 miles in the first 90 days I owned mine. That includes an autocross and several trips to the local drag strip. Only waxed it once in last 5 months, but it gets a drive thru car wash every other week or so. Bang the rev limiter as often as traffic lets me in 1st and 2nd too! Maybe I should have just stole a vette!
I just don't understand why people buy these cars and then let them sit. I don't think a C5 will be super valuable years down the road, so I just drive mine whenever I can. They're made to be driven and enjoyed!
thanks for the info, I do aprreciate the vette, and I do enjoy it. and for you fellow with ongoing treatment, my prayer's are with you, form the bottom of my heart. As I mentioned i will post my pics's later. .
