Default My car sprayed me!

My wife and I took the vette out for a weekend trip to Lake Erie and on our way, we noticed the air conditioner vents had condensation all over them and there was water dripping in the foot well. It seems to me that there might something clogging the system or a block in the drain tube. It is blowing out cold air but the water (condensation) has no place to go.

My wife's Grand Prix used to do this all the time but somehow recently fixed itself.

Does anyone know a quick fix for this or am I screwed and have to take it to the dealer.

Thanks for all your help.

1. stop using the a/c asap. 2. check around the tech section; this seems to be happening to a few members right now. i recall reading some detailed how-to stuff on how to remedy. good luck. bub

I was talking to another member about this same subject tonight. On the pass side fire wall behind the head there is a rubber nipple that comes out and makes a 90. you can't see it but if you run your hand behind the head you can pull it off it will likely be stoped up. cut the end off and clean it then put it back on
Good Luck

Bud,,,I have been down this same road one too many times! The same problem FRIED my BCM.

You need to resolve the issue as soon as you can.

Here is what you need to do:

The 90 deg rubber drain fitting looks like this:

The part of the fitting that normaly cloggs up is the crimped end on the nipple.

The fitting can be found on the fire wall near the back of the passengers side cylinder head and looks like this:

If you look at the area where the flashlight beam is shineing, you can sort of see where the fiting is:

Get the drain unclogged and snip off the crimped end so that it wont clog again.

You might need to run a small wire or hose up there to unclog it!

Great tips as usual from Bill Curlee and others, not to hijack this thread but are there 2 of these drains, one for each side? or just the one shown here?
I also seem to have read something else a few months ago talking about "udders" towards the bottom of the firewall that also need to be unclogged sometimes and can cause leaking inside the car as well...are we talking about the same thing?

Thanks
