My wife got me a Roady 2 set up and I was wondering from the people who have it already where are you mounting the antenna and the console? Oh I can't use the cd part of my radio I have the changer
This is the million dollar question as there is NO space to properly mount the Roady 2. The micro antennae can simply go on the dash--passenger or driver side closest to the hood. I had the Roady Head unit mounted off to the passenger side, but people getting in would always hit it and knock it off. I am currently searching for the best place to move it too. I plan to have it mounted directly beneath the center air vent. I would like to see pictures of others who have mounted the Roady 2. I have been searching several sights to find a better solution.
I have an old Roady, and finding a place for it is tough. It's a smidge too big to go inside the ashtray spot and still be able to close the door. Plus, tuning it if you don't use the presets is a pain. I thought I saw someone on here that mounted one (or a Commander) in the armrest. Bought an old one and cut a hole in it. I may mount it in the ashtray location and use a remote to change the channel. Or, I'll just trash it and by a Commander or one of the new Sirius systems.
Not familar with the Road Ready System but here's what I did with mine.
I have an alpine XM Tuner incorporated in with my D-900 head unit and mounted the magnetic base antenna in the rear facia on the metal cross frame piece.
This is a shot of it looking through the removed tail light opening.
I recently saw an installation that looked very clean. The antenna was mounted between the wiper blades on the cowl looked pretty good. The wires routed thru existing grommets.
I put a commander in the ashtray, The ant. is 2 sided taped right under the trunk lid. Some people said it would not work there but It has never been a problem it will even work inside my garage. You can use the aux. on the radio if you unhook the C.D player and use the cable that runs to it. You would need one more cable that you can get on the net. I think its was a gm10 or something like that.
I had my unique situation, had to have my bluetooth and xm installed. Couldn't live with out both. XM I have a roady, ran it to my center console and the unit just sits in there. I really only listen to Squizz so changing a channel every once and a while at a light isn't to bad. My antenna is sitting on my rear bumper support on the driver side, just as seen earlier in this post. Now it is interfaced via a hardwired FM modulator. Now my bluetooth kit is a Nokia type that I wired up a DPDT relay to activate via the mute lead coming off that. It is tied to the FM modulator, so for my phone to ring through all speakers I have to be listening to XM but 99% of the time I am anyway so it works for me. Guess I should get some pics up. But like I say it works for me and if anything irritates me I will change it to something more expensive. I just had a relay and my old FM modulator and Bluetooth kit out of my Camaro that I had before the Corvette.
