I tried to explain...
Well, during dinner tonight, the vette came up in conversation. I tried to explain to my girlfriend why I wanted LG longtubes and stingers (note: I did not use the word need... which may have been more accurate from my perspective). Man, that was awkward. I don't think she got it.

The few women who will "get it", are probably capable of installing the headers too. 
It all equeals out, you probably don't quite understand why she needs her hair and nails done weekly, and needs 50 pairs of shoes and a dozen purses.

Oh damn it...looks like the headers need to be replaced...That's IT!! end of convo...you start explaining, and she'll think it's something you may "enjoy" instead of something that you "need" for the well being of the car to get you out of the house!!

Also agree with paying cash. Keeps you out of debt, and reduces the paper trail.

I just got my headers put on and when I told my GF about them she said, What do they do? I said they make a little more power and make it sound better. Oh, ok. As long as I don't say, Sorry honey we can't go out this weekend I just got headers and can't afford it, everythings ok.

Just make sure you take care of her more than you take care of your car. I say "I'd like to get _____ for the Corvette. Fortunately, I always hear: "Get it, then!" Of course, some discretion is required, as I don't want to forgo paying the mortgage so that I can buy a supercharger......
