Never tried anything but 93... I have a feeling I'd get a check engine light immediately on regular unleaded. On a side note, one particular price gouging buttmunch of a gas station in Atlanta upped their price on super unleaded to $6.09/gal today. Our government needs to get a handle on this QUICK.
I have only used 93, and the savings from using 91 don't seem worth it to me. Dang car cost $45K more or less. Saving a buck per tank doesn't motivate me.
Paid $2.89 for 93 yesterday here in Northern Virginia and considered myself blessed. Not looking forward to next fill up.
$3.09 in western Mass this morning.
A lot for gas, but 93 is still only $.10 a gallon more than 91, so 15 gallons only adds $1.50 to the fill up. It's the $3.00 a gallon that hurts, not the extra 10 cents.
I have a 2001 with 21000 miles on it. Although mine will run on 91 octane it pings like crazy at part and full throttle. Mr Goodwrench cannot fix it, not even after two top end cleaner jobs and reflashing the PCM with the latest approved software. Runs ine with no pinging on 93.
I used a lot of 91 octane premium in several western states in a 5500 mile vacation last year, so I guess I am sort of an expert.
Thanks for all replies. I've decided to stay with 93 octane. I just came back from a car show and topped the tank off on the way home. $3.24/gallon Exxon. I swear I heard my Z06 say "atta boy, tanks a lot"
So how much do you save per tank using regular or medium grade gas instead of premium ? Some members have thousands of $$$ in mods and want to save a few dollars on a fill up. . I don't see it myself, but mine is not a daily driver.. Good luck to you all...
Man, I wished we had some of your prices. 87 is $3.09 as of tonight here to, and that is at the lowest price on the stations I've seen. Max I've seen so far is $3.59 for 87. You can tell what 89 and 93 are from that.
The Z06 gets 93, the 94 gets 89.
Here in central Canada It is not easy to find any thing more than 91. my car runs fine on it. Prices up here today for 91 are close to 5.85/gal.
Steady diet of Sunoco94 for my Zo6 in Hamilton Ont.Canada.Today one Liter of 89 Octane is $1.40 avg.I didn't check the price of 94 today...I don't know if 94 makes my car run any better than with 91.I like the way it smells.
