I have a coupe with the window valet. I'm sorry others think it is "lazy" but I don't agree. For those of us with black interiors it is a must in the summer. I can drop my windows from across the parking lot and let some of that hot air out before I get there. I love being able to drop the windows and put something in or take something out easily. I'd pay for it again in a heartbeat. In the Corvette world it is a mod that is incredibly easy to install, and works as promised which is rare in my opinion. It is probably a little pricey but when you consider it was developed by an individual who needs to pay back his production cost and cover his intellectual property, I'd say it's fairly priced. My .02 deposited.
I'm not one for giving money away or happy with any overpriced add on for any car! The Window Valet in my opinion is well worth it! I have a Z06 and use it all of the time. I probably sold 5 of them while I was at Carlisle just rolling down my windows and i dont have anything to do with Jeff or Elite Engineering. The first time you use it in a crowd of C5 people someone will run up to you and druel over it!
If you think $135 bucks is way over priced, then just go and build your own!
I got mine through a Group Purchase for $125 shipped!
If that sounds like something that you want to do, start a post and request responses for interest on a GP and contact Jeff @ Elite Engineeringusa.com I'm sure if you get a bunch of interested people and a discount. Jeff and his products are excellent!
very much worth it for my vert. drop the windows to unlatch the roof without getting in. easy as all get out to install...'cept the dealers won't plug it back in when they need access to the computer...
I also purchased from eliteengineering. One of the most convenient additions to the vette. I specifically use it for the option ofputting the windows up or down after taking the top off or putting it on. Also, when driving with the top off, I park, jump out and hit the remote 3x and the car locks up and windows go up. $135 not too much to ask.
It also has other features. It will hold the top speed the car has attained, you can enter the panic code and your speedometer needle will appear stuck somewhere on the speedo (for fun use only can't remember exactly where on speedo). It's great...even for us coupe owners.
I can't remember the last time I used it for anything but the windows...but it sure looks cool when you're walking up to your beauty in the parking lot and magicly, the windows go down.
Its more useful for a vert. Helps with putting top up and down without having to climb back in car to do windows. Generally they can be found for about 100.00 for resale on the forum.
Very few mods are "worth" what we pay for them. I have a Window Valet, but bought it used for $90 4 years ago for my 99 coupe. When I sold my 99 I kept it.
Once you have one you'll use and appreciate it. Is it worth $150 - I can't say.
I am sorry, for vert owners, it is a great thing, for the rest of us, it is jsu plain lazy. Also if you have an aftermarket alarm (viper etc) you can add windows up/down for 50 bucks.
You forgot to mention its great for the forgetful, too. I've had my windows cracked open when it started raining a couple of times. Rolled them up from inside the building. It saved my torch red interior, so how much is that worth?? For me, it cost $100 used. And how much for the aftermarket alarm + ANOTHER $50??
No doubt it's a must have for a convertible, should've been designed with the car in the first place.
GM Thinking: we're not going to have a power convertible top, but have the windows go all the way down when lifting the tourneau yet we're not going to retain any accessory power to lift them back up. What were they thinking????
