Ask your dealer to look up PIP3020.

It tells to replace aluminum 3-4 shift fork with iron 3-4 shift fork.
Also replace 3-4 synchronizer and 3-4 blocking ring.

6sp M/T Stuck in Fourth Gear Will Not Shift out of Fourth
.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms in the PI.

Condition/Concern:
The Chevrolet Corvette, Camaro and Pontiac Firebird equipped with the 6 speed manual transmission may exhibit the following conditions.

Primary condition: Unable to shift out of fourth gear. Other conditions may be:

You may want to remove the boot and console plate and adjust the shifter. My car was getting hard to shift in 3rd and 4th, and I found the shifter to be a good ways out of adjustment.

If your still under warranty, let you dealer do it.If they detect any damage related to your topic they will fix it.I have gone through this repair process and they installed a new iron shift fork and syncro. My problem was with reverse however.I only suggest this because you can get in over your head very quickly.Later if you bring it to the dealer and they discover you made your own adjustments it gives them an excuse to void your warranty(related to this TSB).In my case they still are fine tuning my shifter from time to time,at no charge to me.
This is a fairly common problem actually. No amount of adjusting is going to fix a bent shift fork...My opinion anyway

Anything noted about transmission downshifting problems? Most of the time when I approach turn 1 at Watkins I am slowing from about 130 in 4th to the high 60s under hard braking. With the clutch in I get gear clash or blocked from downshifting as I am trying to get the tranny into third. After a couple of tries it will go in. The next spot I try to downshift I am slowing from about 110 to 60 going into turn 6 under hard braking and the tranny will go into third everytime.
