Default Goodyear F1/GS/D3's

The GS/D3's are starting to be on of the most popular replacement tires for C5 factory F1/GS/EMT's. I'd like to hear from the folks that have been running the D3's for awhile.

Just so we're clear - this is not intended to be a runflat vs. non-runflat discussion. I'm more interested in the performance and wear characteristics of the D3's.

Thanks,
Remo

Love mine. Getting about 20,000 out of a set. I've never been good on tires.
I like running 32psi cold. I also have Bilstien sport shocks and Z06 sway bars. Car handles great.

the GY GS-D3 is a 10-12 year old deisgn tire made by GoodYear France.

The tire is eigther no longer produce or produce in very limited quanities. It was secheduled to be replace in Q4 this year.

The GY F1 and GY F1 Supercar tires and the GY GS-CS ( DOT R race tire) are primany replacements until the GS-RS DOT competition tire comes out Q4.

Or at least this was my understanding.

Good Luck

I looked closely at the GY's when it was time to do tires and have heard nothing but good things about them here at the Forum. I ended up with a set of BFG G-force with the set of rims I got and I'm very happy with them in dry weather. I think my mods have a lot to do with how she handles in the rain which is so so at best. When it's raining I drive like I'm driving on ice.

I can't really answer your questions because I've just had mine on for a couple of days now. What I will say is the difference is like night and day. They are so quiet and the ride is so smooth it's a different car. I read pages and pages of reviews on Tirerack before I decided on them.
Their probably are tires just as good as these, but I know I'm very pleased with them.

On my second set now... Dont know about how long they should last as I started track events not to long ago, and well, that should just about explain it... Good overall tire, lots of grip in both wet and dry... I love them...

I guess one of these days I will stop tracking street tires and move in to slicks, but for now they work great...

If I was to switch to the non runflats, they would be on my VERY SHORT list of tires to pick from, however, I just put the C6 GY runflats on mine.

I've been running these tires for a while now and can honestly say that they have exceeded all of my expectations for a super-high performance tire - excellent dry AND wet grip, little wear (thus far), quiet, and as icing on the cake, made right here in the USA for a very decent price. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I've had mine on for about 4,000 miles. Took the vette to Florida 3 days after I bought them. We got into a hell of a rain storm in Atlanta. I was worried about the tires hydroplaning. No problem at all. I would highly recommend these tires.

i have them

im on my second set

the first set came on the car and had about half the tread left

i got 10k out of what was left on the rears

the fronts looked brand new

i still have the original fronts on 15k later and they still look brand new

i replaced the rears 5k ago and they are about 75% there still

i bet i can get through this set of rears and another before i have to replace the fronts

i love the tread design and they handle gtreat

they are good in the dry and good in the wet

cant really sayanything bad about them

they are about 650-700 for the rears i think

my last set i got for 160 shipped brand new

but then again im slick

I have had mine for almost a year and I am very glad I choose them. I read the reviews on Tirerack.com and decided to go with them. I don't have a whole lot of experience with them in the rain, but they are night and day compared to the run-craps for noise and handling. Go for it.

Only one thing wrong with them. They don't come in 295 or 305 18's.
Excellent tire.

I like 'em. Nice and quiet; great wet traction. Got 25k out of the rears (probably could have run them another 2-3k, but didn't want to risk it), and the fronts have 28k with probably half the tred left. I doubt I will purchase anything else as I've had good luck with them.

Had mine on for about 6 months. Track and street. Totally an amazing tire. Never felt so confident about them NOT breaking loose on wet days.

After a little wear on them, they still grip the road like you are rolling on contact cement in wet slick streets. Very hard to break them loose.

And with everything everyone else has said. Awesome tire.

Only 500 miles on mine so far and one thing I noticed, on these Oklahoma roads, is that the vette does not hop sideways anymore when I hit uneven patches at higher speeds. That used to scare the hell out me.

I've used them for several years now as my everyday tire and rain tire for autox. Nothing but good things to say about them. They don't come in Z06 sizes so you'll never hear those guys talking about them.

I carry a patch kit (like the Z06 guys do) and my AAA card just incase but have yet to have a problem.

Short of a Hoosier Rain tire you won't find better traction in the rain than with the GS D3, IMHO.

Look cool too!

I have only had my car a few months. It came with nearly new D3's on the front and brand new run flats on the back.

I sold the run flats to another member and bought D3's for the back, $550 for the pair to my house.

They are very quiet.

The D3 weighs about 7 pounds less per tire and is much easier to mount on the rim.

The best part, the guy behind you is looking a a very cool tread pattern.

Default GS/D3 Feedback - Thanks

Thanks everyone for the feedback on GS/D3's.. Looks like the D3's are what I'll go with for the replacement of my original GY runflats. I'll use a inflation kit plus cell phone & AAA for blowout protection. Looking forward to improved traction and lower tire noise.

98vert6spd - you simply have to back off that right pedel a little. Three sets of rears to one set of fronts?

Thanks again everyone,
Remo
