I hope you're under warranty... That same thing ran me about 3k. It's the EBCM and the valve that accompanies it. I'd say take it to a dealer with a good reputation or some mebers have bought the parts and did it themselves. Hopefully, one of them will chime in.

Take it to the dealer! I had the same problem and decided to "Test" the ABS to make sure it was'nt just an electrical connection or something. Well, I am a freeking IDIOT!! Brakes locked up, car slid sideways and almost off the road into a swamp . Get her checked out and hopefully you still have a warranty left. Good Luck.
Do a search on the Forum as recommended above. There's a member who had the same problem but it was intermittent. He said to clean the "grounds" and he also replaced his battery and the problem went away. Mine does the same thing. It's very intermittent with the "Service ABS Soon" only coming on maybe once a month which tells me that if something was really wrong with the ABS it would be a constant warning. When I get the warning, if I turn the engine off and back on the warning goes away.???????
Mine was doing the same thing and it ended up being a steering column sensor that had gone bad. It was covered under warranty but it would have run around $300. Hopefully it's this or dirty grounds as oppossed to the $3k fix. Are there any other symptoms? I kept ignoring/reseting the DIC until it eventually started engaing the ABS for no apparent reason. Eventually the ABS would just turn itself off. Finally took it in, they replaced the sensor and all is well. Good luck with yours.
To the dealer ASAP, I just had my 01 repaired, the parts are about $1200, GMPP paid off !
