I'll be trailering my Vett for the first time tomorrow, I have Good Staps and Axel Straps but was wondering where to tie it down from. I was thinking around the rear lower A-arm and the front bars where you would mount your skid wheels from the frame saver kits. What do you think?
I'll defer to others. I've not done it and probably wouldn't even attempt it. Forget the potential issues with hooking it up, since the Vette has such a low profile, I would be concerned with hitting a bump or lower area and taking out the fascia. Also unless you're going to unhook the odometer, you're going to be racking up empty miles. No chance of having it transported for you as an option?
I use these T-Hooks in the four factory tie down slots on the frame.
The T-Hooks fit in the same side frame slots used for jacking pucks underneath each door in the frame.
I then cross my straps in a "X" pattern to each side of tie downs on the trailer.
Jim,
I will be trailering my C5 and C3 soon. I am about to buy a new motorhome and I iwll take the C5 for daily driving at our destination and the C3 to shows. Where did you get those 'T-hooks'? I have not even bought the trailer yet. I have seen some very nice looking tilt bed trailers. I do worry about the chin clearance while getting the cars on and off the trailer. any further advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Use the T-hooks. I got mine through HarborFreight for about 5 bucks a piece.
If you go with the Sloan Kwik-load you won't have to worry about clearence. Here's a picture of it lowered to the ground...just drive up.

I bought a Sloans Kwik Load Trailer. It's a roll-back trailer and doesn't require ramps. Now that I have the Tiger Shark front air dam, I use a couple short pieces of 2x8" boards to drive up on. When I had the factory front, I didn't need the boards at all. My vette is also lowered on the factory bolts.
Here's the link for the trailer: http://www.kwikload.com/

Tommy,
Even though I am an experienced tower (is that a real word) I found that article very informative. I currently have a 28' motor home but it is old and tired....I am soon to purchase a new Pace Arrow 36D that has the largest single slide-out in the industry. I do like the Kwik-Load trailers, but they are a little pricey for the use I will get out of them, BUT after reading that article, it might be worth the extra money because they seem to be GOOD! Both of my Vettes are black and I am trying to make a deal on this Pace Arrow that has black/gray graphics on the side, with a black trailer and chrome wheels with a black vette on it....THEN...around here I can buy a electric golf cart with a high rise kit on it which gives it knobby tires and chrome rims. If I can getthat in black and put a couple of Vette stickers on it that should make quite the conversation piece pulling into a camp ground. I do like the wind screen on the Kwik-Load too. I saw one in Bowling Green a few weeks ago and it had a big crossed flags emblem painted on the front, which looked VERY nice...Thanks again for the article.

Well T-Hooks look good but there is no place within 100 miles to get them around here and I'm leaving tomorrow. So I guess I'll go with what I got and hope for the best.
