Looking back ten + years now, which C4 would you want to own....a vert or a ZR1? Now fast forward some time, which C5 would you want to own? A vert or a Z06?
I am not sure bout the rest of you, but when I see an older C4 vert, I am like "old vette, raggitty looking top" where as when I see a Zr1 I am like, "totally cool".
Maybe I am not making any sense this morning....anyone feeling me on this one...?
I am more of the ZR-1, LT4, and Z06 kinda guy. I did the vert thing years ago and got it out of my system. I love my '99 coupe, but wish I had saved a little more for the Z06!!
To me, the convertibles are AWESOME and hard to beat on beautiful days...but a PITA all other times.
Depends what you want from the car. Two different styles and two different sensations; added power or wind in the hair.
No reason why with care and attention the vert roof shouldn't stay looking good.
JMHO but I'm biased. Vert for me.
DeeGee makes a very good point. The vert tops of today are way better than the vert tops of yesteryear both in appearence and durability. This thread will, if it hasn't already, degrade into another "which is better a coupe or a vert".

If I was buying a C4 - I'd want either a Grand Sport or CE convertible with the LT4. I would also like a 95 ZR1 in black!
I have a convertible now and I never find it a PITA! Owning a coupe and having to deal with taking off the top, wrestling with it to get it into the cargo area without banging anything and then sacrificing the cargo space (which would have been the only reason for having the coupe to start with) seems like a bigger PITA to me. As far as a Z06 - if they only made it in a convertible, it would have been the perfect Vette.
not a fan of the c4 at all! Do love the c5 and have the Targa roof. Does that count towards a vert? I actually like it more then the vert, but would take either one ! You wouldn't have to twist my arm for that. The zo6 is actually pretty hot.
I'm sorry, but i don't see the connection between a ZR1 and a Z06...the ZR1 had a HUGE dealer mark up and was some what of a rare car. I can go from here to work and see just as many Z06's as i do any other model. That is why the Zr1 brings a smile. Not to mention the Zr1 was a wide bodied car, with some nicer curves than the stock C4. The z06 is nothing but a C5 <FRC> with some bolt ons, no huge dealer mark ups and very common.
The only two C4's i'd ever be caught driving would be a Zr1 or a grand sport. I personally just don't like the lines of a C4. The z06 many years down the road, may have some nastalgia if it hasn't been abused. But then again a non-raced, non-abused z06 will be hard to find in 15 years.
easy,peasy...I want back the 92 LT-1 I traded in on my trailblazer. White w/ arctic white interior..1st year of LT-1. Was a great vette, i regret selling it every time i see c4.
The ZR-1 was an awesome car and would be the C4 of choice. As for the C5, the vert was my preference and still will be in the future. Unless its something very special, corvettes should be roadsters!
