Just found wheel locks on my recent purchased 01. No one told me about them and I can't find a key. is their a place where they are hidden? would a dealer have a master key? if all fails how do you remove it?

I've heard that there is some sort of indentation under one of the rear storage compartments. I don't know the exact location for sure, but someone will chime in that knows.
My 2001 Coupe came with locks from the factory. Open the hatch, then, standing at the rear, facing toward the front, lift the lid of the storage compartment furthest to the left. There is a small indentation in the carpetting where you "should" find the wheel lock key.
As an alternative, I believe Walmart and Autozone have the Gorilla Socket that was once advertized on television. The Gorilla Socket is a specialty socket that has numerous extending "filings" inside of it that drop and fill into the socket key spline to allow a good grip to remove the wheel stud on worn out bolts, etc.
My 2000 coupe came with locks from the factory. I bought it used and the key was in the glove box. Luckily I havent had to use it, so dont know what would happen if it failed!!!
These worked great for me, you have to use one size smaller than you think, tap them on with a hammer to set the cutting flutes and then turn right off.
If the wheel locks are original equipmeent, check with a local Chevy dealer for either use of a master set on the spot, or to order one specifically to match your VIN. If that does not work, you might be interested to know that Snap-On tools makes a special removal socket expressely designed for this purpose. The inside of the hardened socket has lightly spiraled sharp ridges that have a slight taper. The socket is lightly hammered in place and spun off with an impact wrench or regular wrench. My husband lost the key to a set of McGard locking nuts on one of our vans. We bought the Snap-On tool which made removal a snap! It IS re-useable over and over.
In a moment of irony, my 98 came without the factory locking nuts. It was easy to see the new 5th nut on each wheel.......The Key was IN THE TRUNK just where the OWNERS MANUAL says it will be, so it was pretty clear that whoever did the tires just before we bought the car failed to even bother to read the Effing manual before laying waste to the factory locks. RTFM!!!!! My new wheels have McGard locks.

First, the wheel lock is factory installed. The keys are hidden in the back under the left hand storage compartment. You won't be able to get the info from the dealer. If you can't find the key, and you don't have your manual with the key code, your only option will be the socket trick. I would be that if you look in the back you will find it. I hope its there for you.
My '00 came with the locks also and that is where the key was. If it is not there, try searching in each of the storage compartments, the glove box, the center console, etc. If it can't be found, do what Fiberglass Fan suggests. Good luck.

I found the indentation, but no key. I'm trying to locate the past owner from the dealer where I purchased my vette, hope I can. Thank you form for all the help. I'll keep you posted.

I just went through this problem 3 weeks ago. I tore the carpet out of the back, looked under the seats, and in the glove box but no key could be found.
Let's see if I can help a little.
First determine if the the lock is factory or after market. This is easy to figure out. If the the "keying" is in the center of the lock as opposed to the outside of the lock, then it's aftermarket. The Dealer will not be able to help you with aftermarket. They probably will not be able to help with factory locks, but it is worth a try. Some dealers keep a few keys on hand. You might get lucky.
It was determined my locks were aftermarket. The "socket" method was going to have to be used to remove them. It was time for me to get new tires so I got Discount Tires to remove them at no extra charge when I had my tires put on. I watched and the process looked pretty easy.
If you don't want to mess with it, I suspect Discount would probably remove them for about $10 a wheel. That price is just a guess, but I bet it's close.
