Default no start

I have only had my 2000 frc For a couple of months but love this car.
Today I had my first problem. A no start. Insert the key and turn everything is normal.turn it to the start pos. nothing. I cheched the key to make sure the chip is there and try again. nothing. I don't hear the col.lock activate. in and out with the key trying to start it for about five min. all of a sudden it starts. Retried it several times, ok. Do I have a ignition swich/key problem or somthing else. I don't have a second key so I can't try that if it happens again. Thanks for the help

Maybe a battery issue? Is she turning over at all? Problems with the original Delco batteries are common. If it is the original, I would start there.

I'm going thru the same thing right now... but intermittently, my Security light would also come on and stay on steadily...

Here's some info...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...421&forum_id=1

Hope your get yours fixed... I'm off to the stealership on Monday.

EDIT:::: Oh yeah... Last night, I was told to put the keep in the door lock and turn it twice to the right... it's supposed to reset a couple of things. I tried starting up and VOILA! It did...

I would start with the battery. Being a 2000, your going to be due to replace it real soon if not NOW, plus that is probably the least expensive fix, for starters. Assuming it's the original battery.
PS-WELCOME to the forum,I just noticed your post count.

I went through this earlier this year. In my case, it turned out to be the starter itself was bad.

If you have access to a volt/ohmmeter, I can give you a logical troubleshooting path, and how and what to check.
The starting circuit isn't that complicated, but in order to troubleshoot this type of problem, it has to be occuring (not starting) when checking the various components.

Load testing the battery and inspecting the battery terminal connections is the first step. If you are 100% sure the battery is good, have a meter and ability to check a relay, post back, we'll go from there.

The NEXT thing that I would do is see if there are any codes set. If you have codes, post them.

Will the starter turn over??? Or does it crank and not start???

If the starter will not turn over, your Theft Deterrent Relay (TDR) could be the problem. There is a relay in the passengers foot well on the fire wall. Look above the BCM (Big Silver Box): In this picture You can see the relay!

The TDR will have four wires. (RED, PURPLE, Yellow/black stripe and Yellow.

A bad Theft Deterrent Relay (TDR) will prevent the starter from starting.

Mine was fried! It got moisture in it from the AC System condenstaion!

You can pull the relay off the fire wall, open it up and check the contacts. If you clese the relay contacts with the ignition switch on, the car will/should start!

****MAke sure it is in park or in netural with the brake on or the car can take off on you!!!!!!! ****

This would be my first port of call.

There are many of us have experienced very similar symptoms.

One new battery later and all fixed.

Battery is about 4 weeks old. Sercurity light did remain on when ignition switch was turned. no lights dim, no clicking, ticking...then I turned it off pulled out the key, reinserted the key twist to start and everything is normal. I have no codes. the thing that struck me first was I never heard the col. lock sol.move untill it started the last time. Everything work fine now but next time I may not be lucky enought to be in the driveway. Thanks for All your help

FYI::::

The Stealership changed my ignition cylinder today... $266.86 under warranty... solved my issue... I didn't have codes either.

Please keep us posted on your progress...
