There are a number of good driving schools but they do cost a few $$$. As an alternative, we started attending open track days at Road Atlanta at which we run our car on the track. Panoz Race drivers are position at various locations from which they provide feedback on your driving.
In my area, there are a number of clubs and businesses that run track weekends. Typical price is $250-$300 for the weekend, and that includes an instructor to ride with you and show you the Line. Typically, it's two hours of track time per day, in 25-30 minutes segments, interspersed with classes to talk about what you're trying to do in the next session. This assumes you're driving your own car.
For me, it's a relatively cheap way to spend a weekend, and loads of fun.
All that said, you can spend as much as you want on driving schools. If you drive their cars, and those cars are spec racer Corvettes, you'll pay MUCH more.

Spring Mountain in Nev. formerly Bragg Smith is a great school and yes it is a little pricey but you are going to find that when it comes to these sorts of schools you get exactly what you pay for.

I have done both Bondurant and Spring Mountain. It depends as to what you want to learn from the school as to which school is the best as well as what program you want.
If you want to learn to race Bondurant in my opinion is the best. If you want to learn to handle your car better and get lots of seat time on a road course then I think Spring Mountain is the best.
Bondurant does however have non racing programs also but I have only participated in their racing programs and it is where I go every year for refresher course in the Advanced Road Racing Course. I will go to Spring Mountain next spring for seat time.

Where can I get some information on Road Atlanta and it's open track days?
Open track days are not always a good idea expecially if you have been to less then 10 driving schools IMHO.
HPDEs run $250-$400 / weekend and you drive your own car. You have an instructor in your right seat for the whole weekend and have a few hours of class room time.
For the National Corvette Museum High Performance Drivers Event, Oct 29-30 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw SC we charged $295 for the weekend. Each student has a personal IN CAR instructor, 2 hours of classroom per day and lots of track time.
The event was sold out in March for the Oct event.
We will be anoucing the NCM HPDEs for 2006 shortly after the first of the year.

Another vote for Spring Mountain. However, do look into a professional track near you. Have fun, and, be safe.

It's the most fun I've had with my clothes on!
I'll second that. I also went when they were running Mustangs. Bondurant is a great place, and I really did learn quite a bit. Go for the Grand Prix course if you go there.
I did Bragg Smith lin 03 and it was fantastic, maybe the most fun and learning I've ever had in a car. I drove m 03 Coupe from Denver to Pahrump, and took my own car on the track the afternoon of the last day.....everyone who owns a vetter needs to to something like this before they die!!!
The name is now different and Bragg has left, but his instructors have stayed on and they are terrific.
Nothing like driving ZO6's, burning up a set of tires in three days with only 7 other vettes on the 2.1 mile ten turn track, with a 90+mph back stretch.
