I posted on the tech site before and had no response, has anyone had starting problems. It takes two turns of the key to start my 2004 LS1. The dealer says it is not normal, but yet cannot fix it. After it is started, will start right back up. Have had it in 2x replacing the whole ingnition switch in total. Any suggestions?
I was having some issues.... I started holding the key to the right (start position) for a fraction of a second longer after it started. No more issues.
Mine would start, then stall. Then I'd have to turn it over 1-3 more times before it'd catch again. By holding a bit longer, it's never happened again.
No this is not normal. My guess would be either a bad ignition switch, bad key resistor pellet or dirty key. You said they replaced the ignition switch twice. Do you have the same problem with both keys?
The dealer's shops have access to GM technical assistance for problems they're having difficulty resolving. Has your dealer's shop contacted them? Sounds as if you may not be getting the assistance from this dealer that you should. If this dealer can't resolve your problem, you may want to find another dealer. Also, you may want to review Section 7, Customer Assistance Information in your owner's manual.
I just had this issue. DO NOT IGNORE IT!!! it will not get better.
Mine turned out to be an internall shorted battery that left me stranded in St. Louis.
First take all the keys off your keyring and just let it be your vette key and fob.........the weight from the other keys can cause the pellet (chip) in the key to loose contact with the ignition cylinder, thus causing the car to think the it's trying to be started without the proper keys.....this will temporarily shut down your ignition and fuel system (it's a security measure).
Second. When starting your vette, turn it on but don't start it, let it cycle the fuel through into the engine before you it. I had problems with it starting rough and once I did these two things I haven't had the problem yet.

sounds like you have a bleed off issue.your car is running ffs.inside your tanks you have 2 fuel pressure regulators, 1 in each tank,1 is in the left tank and 1 is in the right tank.the 1 in the left tank maintains rail pressure and the 1 in the right tank basically keeps fuel from bleeding out of the left tank and back into the right.the way our fuel system is designed[late 03 to now],it is a returnless systm,it must use the fuel in the right tank before it will use the left tank[there is a syphoning jet pump in the right tank that pushes fuel over to the left tank into the pump bucket.short and sweet, check fuel pressure..hook up a pressure gauge[dealer SHOULD know this].start the car, shut it off,let the car sit overnight, look at pressure gauge.if it reads 0,the fuel system is bleeding off.problem can be any of the regulators, jet pump hanging open, etc.

Hi,
What is your internal shorted battery problem?
I went out last night and after shopping with my wife, come back and the car would not start ... there is no click or anything. I have had this problem but after couple tries, it would work. But this time, it is not working.
We have tried to jump the battery , etc ... an finally, we gotta push it in second gear and pop it to start. So we got home with vette last night and I hope it would work today but it still not.
I am reading all the old posts now ...
Thanks,
-Mike
