Aftermarket Shift Module??

I am very new to corvettes. We hope to be getting our first one next weekend, an '04. However the owner said he had a shift module for it. He said all corvettes do this, C5, C6 manual tranny........If you dont give it enough gas or rpms in 1st gear, that the shift lite will tell you to go from 1st to 4th. And I guess the tranny will not let you up shift as normal. But this module will. Can someone shed some lite on this for me.

He's referring to CAGS (computer aided gear selection). Under light throttle it forces a 1-4 upshift. The bypass disables that "feature".

He doesnt have it hooked to the car right now, he wants to sell it to me with the car.

Is this mod necessary??

If I had a M6 I would put it on. Doesn't cost much. You can look it up on many of the forum vendors such as Eckler's or Mid America.
